Forms of Life and Social Critique: Pasolini after Wittgenstein
P. 25-27.
Bronzo S.
Drawing on Pier Paolo Pasolini and his appropriation of Wittgenstein, this paper argues for the possibility of a radical sort of social critique based on the notion of form of life: the members of a society may not only have an objectionable form of life, but also lacka form of life altogether.

The article examines some well-known attempts to consider Ludwig Wittgenstein's “Philosophical Investigations” in the context of transcendental idealism. The main purpose of these attempts is to protect Wittgenstein's later philosophy from the relativistic interpretation of such concepts as “language games” and “forms of life”. Thus, Bernard Williams, noting the ambiguity of the pronoun “we” in ...

The article examines the arguments of John McDowell in favor of quietism as the main methodological attitude of Ludwig Wittgenstein. McDowell shows that we cannot ignore Wittgenstein's quietism without compromising our understanding of his ideas about linguistic meaning and rule-following. The main obstacle to understanding the role of quietism in Wittgenstein's philosophy is the opposition ...

The main claim of this paper is one that many readers will find surprising, namely that some central aspects of the Tractatus’ conception of language can be illuminated with the help of the philosophy of Stanley Cavell. One reason such a claim will seem surprising is that the Tractatus as standardly read is advancing an ...

It is widely believed that Wittgenstein made fundamental contributions to this explanatory project. ...
