Русская смута и рождение французской периодики
In the early modern period, when the flow of information increased with the development of printing and the appearance of the first periodicals (newspapers, news digests, published several times a year, etc.), the problem of selecting information became important. The authors of the article, addressing the history of the first French periodical, the yearbook “Mercure François” (1611–1648), try to analyze the information presented there about the events of the Time of Troubles in the Moscow State and to identify sources of information and the technique of its treatment. It is possible to trace the involvement of the publisher of the “Mercure François” — Jean Richer, a Catholic royalist who had once fled from Paris during the dominance of the Catholic League (1588–1594) — in the network of information created by a circle of similar authors (Jacques Margeret, Jacques-Auguste de Thou, Jean de La Blanc, etc.), concerned about the successes of the Habsburgs and their ultra-Catholic supporters. News about Russia are submitted to the public so as to contribute to the political consolidation of anti-Habsburg forces in Europe.
