Metamaterials have become an important part of microwave technology.
Metamaterials are artificial periodic structures with exotic properties which cannot be found in
Nature. One of the many possible applications of the metamaterials is microwave measurement.
In this paper, a sensor based on planar mushroom-shaped metamaterial is proposed as well as its
S21 parameter which depends on certain measured characteristics of an investigated object.
