The article considers the views of historian Mikhail Geller. In 1969-1996, he was regularly publishing analytical reviews of the Soviet (Russian) periodicals in the Polish emigrant journal «Kultura», paying special attention to the Soviet-Polish relations and making extensive historical digressions, and entering into a controversy with Polish analysts and western Sovietologists. For instance, one of the disputable topics was the continuity between the pre-revolutionary Russia and the USSR, or Sovietisation of the Polish society.
