Proceedings of 4th IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things WF-IoT 2018
WF-IoT 2018, the 4th IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things, is the premier IEEE Forum for the Internet of Things. It is where conference attendees, from around the globe - including research institutes, academia, industry and the public sector -- share their knowledge, expertise and experiences about IoT technologies, applications, economic impacts, and social implications.
The 2018 conference theme is Smart Cities & Nations, focusing on the vision of a highly connected society, where people and "things" can interact with each other, to provide new goods, services, infrastructure, and processes that improve the lives of citizens in Smart Cities. This pervasive integration enables intelligent systems, which in turn enriches and enhances the human experience within the emerging and increasingly ubiquitous digital ecosystems. WF-IoT 2018 presents innovations that will influence research and real-world applications for the foreseeable future and transform our world in ways we have yet to imagine.
In February 2018, IoT industry leaders, practitioners, researchers, government officials and students are meeting at WF-IoT 2018 in Singapore to foster an exchange of knowledge, to network with innovators, to develop careers, and promote entrepreneurship around the explosive growth and investment in IoT technologies and application areas. The Conference is also designed to be highly interactive and a call to action so that activities during the coming year bring us to WF-IoT 2019 with a sense of progress and accomplishment.
Each IEEE World Forum on IoT is, by design, held in a different geographical area. To conduct the most meaningful dialog, the conference strives to bring in attendance, talent, experts, and experience with IoT from around the world. At the same time, each of the World Forums focus on regional and local conditions and pick topics that are important to the region and cross-cutting subjects that are important to IoT and crucial for nurturing and developing the global ecosystem that feeds the virtuous cycle of growth and value to humanity.
This year, an aspect of the World Forum is to concentrate on a limited number of Vertical areas that are significant to Asia, the Pacific Region and Singapore. The Verticals represent projects and markets where IoT is seeing significant deployment. The other dimension for the conference is the Topical aspect of IoT addressing technologies, policies, and practices for exploiting opportunities or overcoming barriers for adoption of IoT.
