Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration
A team of Russian researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems. The article has been published in Scientific Data.

‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

Петров К. А., Логос 2025 Т. 35 № 5 С. 93–114
The concept of “enactment” refers to the idea of the contingency of the body/technology boundary and as such it’s the basis for the emerging multiple ontologies of bodies in the Annemarie Mol’s texts. However, “enactment” does not mean the absolute malleability of the body. For authors working within the framework of actor-network theory the body ...

Architecture of a software system for designing robust business processes
Samoylova K., Zamyatina E., Proceedings of the Institute for System Programming of the RAS 2022 Vol. 34 No. 2 P. 67–76
Nowadays, in order for a company to remain competitive, efficient and attractive to investors it needs to have reliable and threat-resistant business processes. The question of methods for building such business processes remains relevant. This paper proposes a software system, which involves the use of methods and tools of DSM (Domain Specific Modeling), ontological approach, ...

Заякин В. С., Lyadova L. N., Рабчевский Е. А., Информационные технологии 2022 Т. 28 № 10 С. 529–538
The development and support of knowledge-based systems for experts in the field of social network analysis (SNA) is complicated because of the problems of viability maintenance that inevitably emerge in data intensive domains. Largely this is the case due to the properties of semi-structured objects and processes that are analyzed by data specialists using data ...

3% rules the market: herding behavior of a group of investors, asset market volatility, and return to the group in an agent-based model
Lee S., Lee K., Journal of Economic Interaction and Coordination 2021 Vol. 16 P. 359–380
This study presents an agent-based model of capital markets by adopting simple trading rules for bounded rational agents who maintain different expectations regarding a tipping point at which price starts to change its direction from rising (falling) to falling (rising). The effect of herding behavior on the volatility of stock market prices and the rate ...

In this paper we present the results of computational experiments based on a novel agent-based communication model of Twitter activity. The model was designed specifically for analyzing the dynamics of communication between competing ideological positions, which sets the model apart from existing modelling literature. The model incorporates network structures into an agent-based framework; the nodes ...

Agent-based model of the Russian banking system: Calibration for maturity, interest rate spread, credit risk, and capital regulation
Ermolova M. D., Leonidov A., Nechitailo V. et al., Journal of Simulation 2021 Vol. 15 No. 1-2 P. 82–92
The Basel III regulation raised the minimum capital requirements for banks. However, its implementation may not have reduced systemic risks. Academicians investigating optimal banking regulations do not have a consensus on whether to increase or decrease capital requirements. Here, we use the agent-based approach to study capital regulation and its implications on the evolution of ...

Имитационное моделирование цепей поставок на основе системной динамики
Bazhina D., Lukinskiy V., Nikolaevskiy N., Логистика и управление цепями поставок 2020 № 1 (96) С. 47–56
The article covers issues of supply chain modeling being an important step in the decisionmaking process. Logistics and supply chain management consider movement and transition of material flow as well as financial, information and other flows associated with it. The characteristics of a flow must be measured considering the dynamics of the flow movement. This determines the importance ...

Conceptual Framework of Agent-based Model of Relational Conflicts in Russian Retail
Morozova Y. A., , in: Proceedings of Analytics for Management and Economics Conference AMEC 2019.: St. Petersburg: [б.и.], 2019. P. 367–373.
Collaboration and trust relationships are important success factors in supply chain management. However, in practice relationships between counterparties in supply chain face conflicts preventing from building ideal supply chain collaboration. This paper proposes a conceptual framework of agent-based model that helps to understand how individual behavior of counterparties in conflict situations and collaboration strategy effect ...

Assortative mating and the evolution of desirability covariation
Butovskaya M., Conroy-Beam D., Roney J. R. et al., Evolution and Human Behavior 2019 Vol. 40 No. 5 P. 479–491
Mate choice lies close to differential reproduction, the engine of evolution. Patterns of mate choice consequently have power to direct the course of evolution. Here we provide evidence suggesting one pattern of human mate choice—the tendency for mates to be similar in overall desirability—caused the evolution of a structure of correlations that we call the d factor. ...

Zakhodiakin G., Gobedzhishvili K. A., Логистика и управление цепями поставок 2019 № 3 (92) С. 54–62
Russian mining industry experiences a rapid growth providing an attractive market for suppliers of mining equipment. However, it's a customer-dominated market. The customers set stringent requirements for the initial equipment supply, as well as for the after-sale service and spare parts supply. The manufacturers of mining equipment are thus facing the need to rigorously analyze ...

Checking the Data Complexity of Ontology-Mediated Queries: A Case Study with Non-uniform CSPs and Polyanna
Gerasimova O., Kikot S., Zakharyaschev M., , in: Description Logic, Theory Combination, and All That.: Berlin: Springer, 2019. P. 329–351.
It has recently been shown that first-order- and datalog-rewritability of ontology-mediated queries (OMQs) with expressive ontologies can be checked in NExpTime using a reduction to CSPs. In this paper, we present a case study for OMQs with Boolean conjunctive queries and a fixed ontology consisting of a single covering axiom 𝐴 -> 𝐹 v 𝑇, A -> F v T, possibly supplemented with ...
