The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Операционная система Plan9 как реализация идеологии ГРИД (Operating system Plan9 as the implementation of the GRID ideology)

С. 230–234.
Gostev I. M., Севастьянов Л. А., Королькова А. В., Кулябов Д. С., Геворкян М. Н.

When we organize parallel computations on a cluster system, the computer system structure is not hidden from the user, and should be taken into account while writing parallel programs. GRID ideology introduces an additional level of abstraction and makes it possible to link together heterogeneous computing systems. In fact, the inability to control the operating environment makes developers to create superfluous infrastructure at the application level. We offer to go down to the below level and to implement the necessary functionality within the operating environment kernel. Plan9 operating system has the immanent structure necessary for the implementa- tion of GRID ideology. The main architectural elements of the operating system allow you to use all the re- sources of the remote computer as the local resources.

Urban green infrastructure index: Assessing supply of regulating and cultural ecosystem services at a megacity scale
Dvornikov Y., Grigoreva V., Vasenev V. et al., Ecological Indicators 2025 Vol. 170 Article 113014
Urban green infrastructures (UGI) contribute to a quality of life in cities by provisioning cultural and regulating ecosystem services (ES). Planning and management of UGI needs transparent and spatially explicit indicators of the ES supply. In this study, we have used open-source geospatial data to quantify regulating (air pollution/noise and stormwater runoff regulation, climate mitigation), ...

BitFun: Fast Answers to Queries with Tunable Functions in Geospatial Array DBMS
Rodriges Zalipynis R. A., PROCEEDINGS OF THE VLDB ENDOWMENT 2020 Vol. 13 No. 12 P. 2909–2912
Geospatial array DBMSs handle big georeferenced arrays. Due to the geospatial data peculiarities, many queries have tunable parameters with values not known in advance: users gradually tune them until they get a satisfactory result. This generates a series of queries with slightly different structures and very similar outputs. Modern array DBMSs spend the same efforts ...

Coordinated global and private job-flow scheduling in grid virtual organizations
Toporkov V., Yemelyanov D., Anna Toporkova, Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory 2021 Vol. 107 No. February 2021 P. 102228
Abstract In this work, an approach for a preference-based job-flow scheduling in Grid virtual organizations is proposed and studied. Virtual organizations provide uniform rules of the resources sharing and consumption and should respect individual and common preferences of its stakeholders: users, resource providers and administrators. In most cases, a virtual organization’s stakeholders pursue contradictory market-based goals, ...

Toporkov V., Yemelyanov D., Toporkova A. S., , in: Parallel Computing Technologies. PaCT 2019. Lecture Notes in Computer Science, vol 11657.: Springer, 2019. P. 80–92.
In this work, a preference-based resources allocation algorithm for a job-flow scheduling in Grid virtual organizations (VOs) is proposed and studied. Users’ and resource providers’ preferences, VOs internal policies, resources geographical distribution along with local private utilization impose specific requirements for efficient scheduling according to different, usually contradictive, criteria. The algorithm performs resources selection optimization ...

The problem of planning a set of paths for the coalition of robots (agents) with different capabilities is considered in the paper. Some agents can modify the environment by destructing the obstacles thus allowing the other ones to shorten their paths to the goal. As a result the mutual solution of lower cost, e.g. time ...
