Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

On the Lack of Controllability in Naive Mechanics Models: Three Exceptional Cases
Romanov I., Mechanics of Solids 2022 Vol. 57 No. 8 P. 2123–2127
The problem of boundary controllability is considered for a wide class of models. This class can be conventionally called naive mechanics. It is proved that, for all naive mechanics models except for three exceptional cases, there is no controllability to rest. All these three cases are classical examples of equations two of which require additional ...

Exact Control of a Distributed System Described by the Wave Equation with Integral Memory
Romanov I., Shamaev A. S., Journal of Mathematical Sciences 2022 Vol. 262 No. 3 P. 358–373
We consider the distributed control problem for the wave equation with memory, where the kernel is the sum of decreasing exponential functions and the control is bounded in modulus. We prove that the oscillations of the system can be brought to the state of rest in a finite time. ...

Romanov I., Известия РАН.

Distributed Ledger Technology: State-of-the-Art and Current Challenges
Gorbunova M., Masek P., Komarov M. M. et al., Computer Science and Information Systems 2022 Vol. 19 No. 1 P. 65–85
Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) is making the first steps toward becoming a solution for the growing number of various decentralized systems world-wide. Unlike pure Blockchain, DLT finds many uses across different industries, including eHealth, finance, supply chain monitoring, and the Internet of Things (IoT). One of the vital DLT features is the ability to provide ...

Suppression of Oscillations of Thin Plate by Bounded Control Acting to the Boundary
Romanov I., Shamaev A., Journal of Computer and Systems Sciences International 2020 Vol. 59 No. 3 P. 371–380
The problem of the exact bounded control of transverse vibrations of a thin plate is considered. Control actions are applied to the boundary of the plate, which fills a certain bounded domain on the plane. The purpose of the control is to completely stop oscillations in a finite time period. ...

Romanov I., Шамаев А.
The boundary controllability of oscillations of a plane membrane is studied. The magnitude of the control is bounded. The controllability problem of driving the membrane to rest is considered. The method of proof proposed in this paper can be applied to any dimension but only the two-dimensional case is considered for simplicity. ...

Romanov I., Shamaev A.,
The boundary control of vibrations of a plane membrane is considered. A constraint is imposed on the absolute value of the control function. The goal of the control is to drive the membrane to rest. Exact mathematical definitions are given. The proof technique used in this paper can be applied to a membrane of any ...

Romanov I., Шамаев А.
We will consider the exact controllability of the distributed system, governed by string equation with memory. It will be proved that this mechanical system can be driven to an equilibrium point in a finite time, the absolute value of the distributed control function being bounded. In this case, the memory kernel is a linear combination ...
