We have measured the electron-phonon energyrelaxation time, 𝝉𝒆𝒑𝒉, in superconducting boron-doped diamond
films grown on silicon substrate by chemical vapour deposition. The observed electron-phonon cooling times vary from 160 ns at 2.70 K to 410 ns at 1.8 K following a 𝑻!𝟐-dependence. The data are consistent with the values of 𝝉𝒆𝒑𝒉 previously reported for single-crystal boron-doped diamond films epitaxially grown on diamond substrate. Such a noticeable slow electron-phonon relaxation in boron-doped diamond, in combination with a high normal-state resistivity confirms a potential of superconducting diamond for ultrasensitive superconducting bolometers.

Various applications in the field of terahertz technology are in urgent need of compact, wide-tunable solid-state continuous wave radiation sources with a moderate power. However, satisfactory solutions for the THz frequency range are scarce yet. Here we report on coherent radiation from a large planar array of Josephson junctions (JJs) in the frequency range between ...

We argue that electron-electron interactions fundamentally restrict the penetration length of Cooper pairs into a diffusive normal metal from a superconductor. At low temperatures, this Cooper pair dephasing length remains finite and does not diverge. We evaluate the subgap conductance of hybrids in the presence of electron-electron interactions and demonstrate that this length Lϕ can ...

Using a microwave probe as a tool, we have performed experiments aimed at understanding the origin of the output-power fluctuations in hot-electron-bolometer (HEB) mixers. We use a probe frequency of 1.5 GHz. The microwave probe picks up impedance changes of the HEB, which are examined upon demodulation of the reflected wave outside the cryostat. This ...

We investigate electron cooling based on a clean normal-metal/spin-filter/superconductor junction. Due to the suppression of the Andreev reflection by the spin-filter effect, the cooling power of the system is found to be extremely higher than that for conventional normal-metal/nonmagnetic-insulator/superconductor coolers. Therefore we can extract large amount of heat from normal metals. Our results strongly indicate ...

We investigate the effect of interacting quantum phase slips on persistent current and its fluctuations in ultrathin superconducting nanowires and nanorings pierced by the external magnetic flux. We derive the effective action for these systems and map the original problem onto an effective sine-Gordon theory on torus. We evaluate both the flux dependent persistent current ...

The presence of magnetic fields and/or transport currents can cause penetration of vortices in superconductors. Their motion leads to dissipation and resistive state arises, which in turn strongly affects the performance of superconducting devices such as single-photon and single-electron detectors. Therefore, an understanding of the dissipation mechanisms in mesoscopic superconductors is not only of fundamental ...

We demonstrate that in sufficiently long diffusive superconducting-normal-superconducting (SNS) junctions dc Josephson current is exponentially suppressed by electron-electron interactions down to zero temperature. This suppression is caused by the effect of Cooper pair dephasing which occurs in the normal metal and defines a new fundamental length scale Lφ in the problem. This length is fully consistent with that derived ...
