HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

С. 8–75.
Balashova E., Suvorov N. V., Трещина С. В., Давидкова О. Б., Зенкова Г. В.

The analysis of theoretical and methodical harmonization of the results of calculations for the joint use of interindustry models, the apparatus of production functions (PF) and industry models in frames of systems  for macroeconomic forecasting. The results of the forecasts are intended to illustrate in quantitative terms the requirements for the level of efficiency of productive resources resulting from the adoption of certain hypotheses about specific features of economic development in the perspective period.

Akaev A. A., Devezas T., Ichkitidze Y. et al., Technological Forecasting and Social Change 2021 Vol. 167 Article 120675
The development of digital technology has raised concerns about a decline in labor activity. In this paper, we offer predictions of the possible dynamics of the share of labor income for G7 countries, based on an assessment of the parameters of the factor-augmenting CES function. Particular attention is paid not only to the parameter of ...

Динамика технической эффективности российских предприятий в 2013–2018 годах
Tsvetkova A., Прикладная эконометрика 2021 Т. 63 С. 91–116
The paper examines technical efficiency of Russian firms during the period from 2013 to 2018 applying the stochastic production frontier method. The estimates obtained indicate that technical efficiency grows with firm size and declines with its age. While macroeconomic situation deteriorated in 2015–2016, technical efficiency in most industries changed insignificantly. However, the number of industries with a negative trend ...

Потенциальный рост как отражение перспектив российской экономики
Орлова Н. В., Лаврова Н. А., Россия 2019 № 4
The article considers key factors determining potential output growth in Russia: capital input, labor market and total factor productivity (TFP). Within the framework of potential output analysis, the structural growth is assessed via (1) production function, (2) natural interest rate approach and (3) Okun’s law. The results of authors’models indicate the structural slowdown of Russian ...

Rasskazov S. V., Dalal A., ГЛОБАЛЬНАЯ ЭНЕРГИЯ 2014 № 4 С. 49–58

Akhremenko A. S., Petrov A., Yureskul E., / NRU Higher School of Economics. Series PS "Political Science". 2017. No. WP BRP 54/PS/2017.
There have been numerous studies concerning productivity, representing two general approaches toward measuring the concept. Parametric approaches specify the actual form of the production function based on theoretical assumptions, while non-parametric approaches use empirical best-practice cases as a benchmark for productivity measures. We propose a new approach to obtain cross-country total factor productivity estimates and ...

Labour institutions and vulnerability of developing economies under capital inflows
Matveenko V., Economic Research-Ekonomska Istraživanja 2016 Vol. 29 No. 1 P. 888–903
The paper argues that labour institutions, such as efficiency wages or their analogues more typical for the former planned economies, can aggravate a vulnerability of developing economies caused by windfalls, such as additional oil income or foreign aid. The economy is modelled by use of the, so-called, fK endogenous growth model based on microfoundations describing ...

Anatomy of production functions: a technological menu and a choice of the best technology
Matveenko V., Economics Bulletin 2010 Vol. 30 No. 3 P. 1906–1913
Jones (2005) proposed microfoundations for the Cobb-Douglas production function. We show that Jones' technological menu is a special case of a concept of support set discussed by Matveenko (1997) and Rubinov, Glover (1998) by use of a duality approach. We use this approach to clarify the relation between different production functions and technological menus. Also we construct an ...

Matveenko V., Бронштейн Е. М., Экономика и математические методы 2016 Т. 52 № 2 С. 91–102
CES production functions are widely used in economic growth and development researches. However, it is not always taken into account that properties of different specifications of CES functions (continual or discrete, with the weights or without them) are rather differ. The properties of CES production functions, essential for analysis of economic models, are studied. We ...
