At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Endogenous institutions and conflict in the model of transition from stagnation to growth

P. 571–581.
Veselov D. A., Yarkin A.

We investigate the impact of inequality in wealth distribution on the joint dynamics of conflict intensity and pro-growth institutions in the historical perspective. We build a two-sector endogenous growth model with political conflict between the traditional elite and the emerging class of capitalists during the transition from stagnation to growth. First, our model attempts to explain different moments of industrialization worldwide. Second, we capture various paths of conflict intensity: hump-shaped path, almost absent conflict, and other. We show that the distribution of wealth has a non-monotonous impact on the intensity of conflict and institutions supporting industrialization. Namely, higher inequality in land distribution may be detrimental to industrialization, but may lower conflict intensity. In contrast, higher inequality in capital holdings may be growth-enhancing.

THE ROLE OF ETHNO-SOCIAL STRATIFICATION AND ETHNIC MOBILITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CONFLICT IN SUDAN’S DARFUR REGION
Sergey V. Kostelyanets, , in: Principles and Forms of Sociocultural Organization: Historical Contexts of Interaction.: L., NY: Anthem Press, 2026. Ch. 10 P. 199–218.
Ethno-social stratification and, to a lesser extent, ethnic mobility are inherent to all African societies without exception. While the former has become a proverbial hallmark of the continent, the latter remains less pronounced, often discernible only through rigorous study and requiring detailed explication. Nonetheless, it is indisputable that both phenomena—contingent on context—exhibit varying degrees of ...
