Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration
A team of Russian researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems. The article has been published in Scientific Data.

‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

The landau equation for maxwellian molecules and the brownian motion on SON(R)

Electronic Journal of Probability. 2015. Vol. 20, Article number 92. No. 92. P. 1–39.
Delarue F., Menozzi S., Nualart E.

In this paper we prove that the spatially homogeneous Landau equation for Maxwellian molecules can be represented through the product of two elementary stochastic processes. The first one is the Brownian motion on the group of rotations. The second one is, conditionally on the first one, a Gaussian process. Using this representation, we establish sharp multi-scale upper and lower bounds for the transition density of the Landau equation, the multi-scale structure depending on the shape of the support of the initial condition. © 2015, University of Washington. NEW GOODNESS-OF-FIT TESTS FOR PARETO I TYPE DISTRIBUTION, BASED ON SOME CHARACTERIZATION
I. A. Ragozin, Journal of Mathematical Sciences 2022 Vol. 268 No. 5 P. 684–692
Based on a new characterization, two new goodness-of-fit tests for Pareto I type distribution family with arbitrary shape-parameter λ are constructed. For these tests, the limiting distributions are described, the local Bahadur efficiencies for natural alternatives are calculated, and the asymptotic comparison of test statistics is performed. ...

Ragozin I. A., Записки научных семинаров ПОМИ РАН 2021 Т. 505 С. 230–243
In this paper we construct new goodness-of-fit tests for Rayleigh distribution family with an arbitrary scale-parameter σ, based on some property and some characterization. We describe their limiting distributions, calculate local Bahadur efficiencies under close alternatives and perform asymptotic comparison of our test statistics. ...

Cramér-type moderate deviations for intermediate trimmed means
Nadezhda Gribkova, Communications in Statistics-Theory and Method 2017 Vol. 46 No. 23 P. 11918–11932
In this article, we establish Cramér-type moderate deviation results for (intermediate) trimmed means Tn = n− 1∑n − mni = kn + 1Xi: n, where Xi: n's are the order statistics corresponding to the first n observations in a sequence X1, X2, … of independent identically distributed random variables with  F. We consider two cases of intermediate and heavy trimming. In the former case, when max (αn, βn) → 0 (αn = kn/n, βn = mn/n) and ...

Large deviations of avalanches in the raise and peel model
Pavel Pyatov, Povolotsky A. M., Rittenberg V., Journal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment 2018 Vol. 2018 No. 053107 P. 1–26
We study the large deviation functions for two quantities characterizing the avalanche dynamics in the Raise and Peel model: the number of tiles removed by avalanches and the number of global avalanches extending through the whole system. To this end, we exploit their connection to the groundstate eigenvalue of the XXZ model with twisted boundary ...

Large deviations principles for stochastic scalar conservation laws
Mariani M., Probability Theory and Related Fields 2010 Vol. 147 No. 3–4 P. 607–648
Large deviations principles for a family of scalar 1 + 1 dimensional conservative stochastic PDEs (viscous conservation laws) are investigated, in the limit of jointly vanishing noise and viscosity. A first large deviations principle is obtained in a space of Young measures. The associated rate functional vanishes on a wide set, the so-called set of measure-valued solutions ...
