How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Scientists Train Neural Network to Generate Process Plans from 3D Models
Researchers at the HSE FCS AI and Digital Science Institute have developed CAD2TechSpec, a framework that converts 3D models of mechanical parts into machining process plans—step-by-step instructions for machine tools. The solution aims to reduce the time required for the design and preparation of technical process documentation in mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, and other high-tech industries. The study findings have been published in PeerJ Computer Science.

College Students’ Responses to Automated Feedback on Self-Regulated Learning
Yu E. C., Lui A., Andrade H. et al., Educational Assessment 2026 P. 1–26
Feedback often promotes student learning. Research has focused on delivering high-quality feedback, yet too little is known about how students respond to feedback, and whether and why it serves its intended purposes. This study is an investigation of how college students responded to feedback on their self-regulated learning (SRL). After taking an online assessment of ...

Context and relevance. In recent years, academic stress among high school students has been regarded as a significant risk factor for their well-being and academic achievement, while in the Russian context there is a noted shortage of modern, psychometrically validated methods for its assessment . Objective. The aim of this study is to validate the ...

С., Poddiakov A. et al., М.: Новые печатные технологии, 2025.

Self-esteem and self-reported personality traits: When attitudes toward traits make a difference
Shchebetenko S., De Marchis G., / Series PsyArXiv "PsyArXiv". 2026.
Personality questionnaires do not directly record recurring conduct. Rather, they elicit task-bounded reports of personality attributions: how respondents characterise themselves using personality-descriptive content. From this perspective, established associations between self-esteem and self-reported personality may depend on the evaluative meaning attached to that content. We tested whether attitudes toward the Big Five traits moderated associations between self-esteem and corresponding personality reports ...

Lower resting-state EEG mean eigenvector centrality is associated with higher math anxiety
Pavlova A., Малых С. В., Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 2026 No. 20 Article 1843779
This study aimed to investigate resting-state neural correlates of math anxiety in high school students using a graph-theoretical approach. Sixty 10th-grade students (35 females; mean age = 16.15 years) participated in the study. Resting-state EEG data were acquired using a 32-channel wireless dry-sensor system (Cognionics Quick-32 series). Math anxiety was assessed using the Abbreviated Math Anxiety Scale. Mean ...

2026 Vol. 19 No. 108 Article 8
This study aimed to clarify whether attentional errors may arise following distraction by notifications. It also examined the combined effects of website hover effect (i.e., perceptual feedback from interactive elements) and notification characteristics (animation and content) on attentional sustainability and shifting. Five experiments were conducted: Experiments 1–3 focused on sustained attention, whereas Experiments 4–5 examined ...

Hypergraphs from multivariate connectivity: caCOH-based EEG/MEG representation
Vlasenko D., Saranskaia I., Zakharov D., European Physical Journal: Special Topics 2026 P. 1–16
Hypergraphs provide a natural framework for representing neurophysiological interactions distributed across sets of sensors. A key methodological question is how hyperedges should be defined from frequency-resolved electroencephalography/magnetoencephalography (EEG/MEG) data. We demonstrate a construction strategy in which hyperedges are obtained from canonical coherence (caCOH), an extension of coherence that estimates coupling between multidimensional signal spaces. To ...

Climato-Economic Context of Regional Crime and Corruption Across the Russian Federation
Tatarko A., Maklasova E., Van de Vliert E., Environment and Behavior 2022 Vol. 54 No. 3 P. 575–596
Cross-national research claims that the crime-and-corruption gap between relatively poor and relatively rich countries is larger in more demanding climates that require more capital to cope with the climate.  However, this claim is premature because countries differ in a many confounding ways including histories and politics. We, therefore, re-tested the climato-economic context of violent crime ...

Caveats of non-ipsatization of basic values: A review of issues and a simulation study
Rudnev M., Journal of Research in Personality 2021 No. 93 P. 1–11
Ipsatization, or a correction of variables by their common component, is routinely applied to measures of basic values. Although ipsatization has been criticized, the consequences of non-ipsatization are rarely discussed. We show that the ipsatization of values is intertwined with their definition. A common factor involved in ipsatization was suggested to represent a nuisance variable, ...

The present study attempted a replication using ...
