‘Our Team Consists of True Leaders in Their Respective Academic Disciplines
The HSE International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis studies a wide range of methods for analysing decision-making and possible scenarios for the development of natural, socio-economic, and political phenomena using various mathematical models. The application of advanced mathematical methods to forecasting helps to prevent negative outcomes and avoid erroneous decisions. The HSE News Service spoke to the centre’s director, Prof. Fuad Aleskerov, about its work.

Разработка вычислительных схем, основанных на редукции математических выражений методов Эйлера, для расчета растекания токов по элементам конструкции космических аппаратов при электростатических разрядах

Технологии электромагнитной совместимости. 2014. № 2(49). С. 39–46.
Borisov N., Vostrikov A. V., Krasivskaya M., Linetskiy B.

The authors developed new reduced computational schemes for the numerical integration of systems of linear differential equations on the basis of methods of Euler. Thus not subjected to the reduction of the original model in the form of a system of linear ordinary differential equations, and mathematical expressions that determine the explicit and implicit methods of Euler. Using a new computational schemes for time calculation of unknown quantities in the local area marked by the user, was reduced by 2-3 orders of magnitude compared with calculation of unknown complete model. The article describes the conclusion of new reduced computational schemes, given the complexity of building one of them.

Wu Z., Yu Y., Chibisov A., Materials Today Energy 2023 Vol. 37 Article 101414
The limited availability of lithium metal resources has led to the development of sodium/potassium-ion batteries due to the abundance and low cost of sodium/potassium. However, finding suitable cathode materials with high capacity, stable cycling performance, and efficient electrochemical interface is still challenging. Herein, the honeycomb layered structures of P2-type A2Ni2TeO6 (A = Na, K) have been explored ...

The carbon balance of an ecosystem is the difference between Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) and Ecosystem Respiration (Reco) as expressed by Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE). While remote sensing retrievals of GPP have reached maturity, Reco estimation remains underexplored and ultimately cast bias on NEE. Here we present an end-to-end multi-scale analysis of the mechanism of ...

Multilinear nilalgebras and the Jacobian theorem
Piontkovski D., / Series arXiv "math". 2025.
If a symmetric multilinear algebra is weakly nil, then it is Engel. This result may be regarded as an infinite-dimensional analogue of the well-known Jacobian theorem, which states that if a polynomial mapping has a polynomial inverse, then its Jacobian matrix is invertible. This refines a theorem of Gerstenhaber and partially answers a question posed ...
