The article examines the peculiarities of the housing policy of the USSR in the post-war
period using the example of Leningrad, where low-rise construction was actively developing. «Low-rise
towns» – this is what the low-rise residential buildings were called in the Bolshevik newspaper. This referred
to the fact that this type of construction would fill the city and not only solve the housing crisis, but also
create comfortable living conditions.
