Conductance measurements cannot distinguish crossed Andreev reflection from elastic co-tunnelling in normal–superconductor–normal junctions
Nature Physics. 2026. P. 1198–1199.
Khrapai V., Tikhonov E.
Feng et al.1 presented transport measurements of three-terminal normal–superconductor–normal devices based on topological insulator nanowires. They measured the full differential conductance matrix, defined as Gij = ∂Ii /∂Vj , beyond the linear response regime as a function of various control parameters. Here i, j∈ [1, 2] denote normal terminals biased by the voltages V1 and V2 with respect to the grounded superconducting terminal, and I1 and I2 are the measured currents. The core idea is based on the assumption that a relative contribution of the two competing processes of crossed Andreev reflection (CAR) and elastic co-tunnelling (ECT) to non-local conductance can be systematically tuned by the choice of a bias voltage combination.

Spectral studies of electroluminescence have been conducted on edge-emitting lasers with different cavity lengths. Mirrors were formed by focused ion beam technique and cleaving. A wide range of injection currents was used. Active region of the lasers consists of dense arrays of InGaAs/GaAs quantum dots, which enabled to obtain lasing in stripe lasers with cavities ...

Excitation-dependent photoluminescence of an InGaN/GaN multiple-quantum-well (MQW) heterostructure grown on sapphire was studied over a broad range of excitation power densities. At low and intermediate excitation densities, photoluminescence indicated carrier localization, a gradual reduction in the relative contribution of nonradiative recombination, and screening of the quantum-confined Stark effect. At high excitation densities, state filling, spectral ...

We study the spatial overlap of successive spin configurations generated by Markov chain Monte Carlo simulations of the Baxter–Wu model. Using the Novotny–Evertz sublattice-freezing single-cluster update, we track the mean and variance of the algorithmic overlap across the critical region. We show that, even in this three-spin model, the overlap acts as an algorithmic observable ...

Accurate prediction of complex formulation viscosity is crucial for the lubricant industry and engineering processes. However, developing generalizable models remains challenging due to the complexity of industrial mixtures and the scarcity of public experimental data, often resulting from corporate proprietary restrictions. This study presents a machine-learning workflow for viscosity estimation from a proprietary pseudonymized dataset, ...

The concept of representative volume (REV, or RVE in material sciences) is the cornerstone of continuum scale models – one needs to get the volume big enough so that it could be represented with an averaged value (scalar, vector or tensorial, etc.). While REV should be established in all larger scale simulations, this is rarely ...

Abstract The low-energy plasmonic properties of a free-standing Au (111) monolayer, frequently referred to as goldene, are investigated by time-dependent density functional theory in the random phase approximation. In the evaluation of dielectric and loss functions, the first-principle, band structure characterized by a single s − p energy band at the Fermi level is taken ...

We study the density-matrix kinetics of a charged test particle in two types of Coulomb environment. For a prescribed Gaussian potential, averaging the random-unitary dynamics leads to a Born–Novikov memory equation; Novikov’s identity is exact, but its closure requires a second-order approximation. An equilibrium quantum bath instead yields a Born–Redfield equation with ordered correlators and ...

We derive the local pressure tensor generated by the original Rosenfeld fundamental measure theory (FMT) for hard-sphere fluids from an arbitrary infinitesimal deformation. The variation of a finite-distance FMT kernel is written via the line integrals of the local deformation gradient along the straight segment connecting its end points. The resulting symmetric pressure tensor consists ...

В случаях, когда часть поверхности покрыта металлической маской, препятствующей проникновению возбуждающего излучения к атомам среды, и эта маска имеет произвольную форму, общепризнанного решения неоднородной задачи нет. ...

Superconducting proximity junctions based on topological insulators are widely believed to harbor Majorana-like bound states.
