HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

Неравенство в Европейском союзе в первой четверти XXI века: неординарные тенденции
Grigoryev L. M., Vasileva A., Современная мировая экономика 2025 Т. 3 № 1 С. 6–30
The article demonstrates the disparity of economic growth in the European Union from 2000 to 2023. Countries within the European Union are divided into three geographical and historical groups: the North, the South, and the East. The post-socialist East has considerably narrowed the gap in GDP per capita at PPP (in constant 2021 prices) with ...

UKMOD – A new tax-benefit model for the four nations of the UK
Richiardi M., Collado D., Popova D., International Journal of Microsimulation 2021 Vol. 14 No. 1 P. 92–101
In this paper we introduce UKMOD, a new tax-benefit model for England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the whole of the UK. The model originates and replaces as a stand-alone model the UK component of EUROMOD, the tax-benefit model for the European Union member states, which from 2021 is not updated anymore. We describe the ...

Concept of nonprofit marketing has emerged from discussions of applying the philosophy and techniques of marketing to the public and nonprofit sectors in the marketing literature. However, many of these marketing ideas emerged originally from social science disciplines. Almost all social science can be classified into the two general categories of «individualistic" and "collectivistic" perspectives ...

Monopolistic competition and income dispersion
Osharin A., Thisse J., Ushchev P. et al., / Series CORE DP-2013 "CORE Discussion Paper". 2013. No. 2013/71.
We develop a model of monopolistic competition that accounts for consumers' heterogeneity in both incomes and preferences. This model makes it possible to study the implications of income redistribution on the toughness of competition. We show how the market outcome depends on the joint distribution of consumers' tastes and incomes and obtain a closed-form solution ...

The article refers to the analysis of proportions, which characterize the distribution of macroeconomic financial resources (primary incomes, earnings from abroad и loans) by final use elements in 1996-2008. The estimates of respective flows are based on the model developed in Shugal' and Ershov's article [17]. That model descrybes quantitatively interrelations between the elements of ...
