Участие Вьетнама в Программе развития субрегиона Большого Меконга
The article discusses particularities of Vietnam’s economic integration with countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion and its participation in the development program (GMSECP). Being a part of this program, Vietnam actively promotes holistic development of the subregion in nine crucial directions: transport infrastructure, agriculture, energy, environment, health and HRD, urban development, information and com> munication technology, tourism, transport and trade facilitation. The final goal of the program is creation of transparent regional market, where free cross-border trade will exist. The basis of the program is the creation of a spatial net of economic corridors, which will literally connect countries with one another. It has been suggested that the implementation of the program could return Vietnam into a key link in subregional cross-border trade because all main economic corridors will run through its territory. Author also concludes that while lacking the economic power as a member of the GMSECP Vietnam shows rather low independence. Itegration with the countries of the subregion is slowed down by the tensions with China. As a result, the Vietnam — China dialog in the context of GMSECP is not as effective as it could be.
