БИЛИНГВАЛЬНОЕ ОБРАЗОВАНИЕ КАК СРЕДСТВО КОГНИТИВНОГО РАЗВИТИЯ И ПОЛИКУЛЬТУРНОГО ВОСПИТАНИЯ
The article examines bilingual education as a complex pedagogical phenomenon that affects not only students’ language training but also their cognitive, academic, and sociocultural development. Particular attention is paid to clarifying the essence of the content of the concept of “bilingualism” in the context of the modern educational process, as well as to the analysis of the positive effects of learning through two languages, which include the development of cognitive flexibility, memory, and academic achievement. It is noted that bilingualism contributes to the formation of skills that enable students to function effectively in a multilingual educational environment. At the same time, early bilingualism is considered a natural path of a child’s language development. The importance of bilingual educational environment as a factor in the successful social adaptation of an individual in a modern multilingual society is emphasized. Theeducational potential of bilingual education is revealed, manifested in the expansion of students’ cultural outlook, their acquaintance with various linguistic and cultural traditions, values, and forms of worldview. The relationship between bilingual education and multicultural education as one of the most important fields of modern educational policy is examined. It is shown that learning through two languages contributes to the formation of students’ respectful attitude toward cultural diversity, the development of tolerance, and readiness for intercultural interaction. The influence ofbilingual learning on the formation of students’ communicative culture, as well as on the development of their ability to consider different cultural contexts in the process of communication, is analyzed. In conclusion, it is emphasized that bilingual education serves as an effective tool for the formation of a personality capable of constructive dialogue in the context of globalization and integration into a multilingual cultural and educational space.
