Scientists Develop Algorithm for Accurate Financial Time Series Forecasting
Researchers at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science benchmarked more than 200,000 model configurations for predicting financial asset prices and realised volatility, showing that performance can be improved by filtering out noise at specific frequencies in advance. This technique increased accuracy in 65% of cases. The authors also developed their own algorithm, which achieves accuracy comparable to that of the best models while requiring less computational power. The study has been published in Applied Soft Computing.

Influence of the Normal Magnetic Component to Magnetotail Current Sheet Forma
Domrin V. I., Malova H. V., V. Yu. Popov et al., Cosmic Research 2026 Vol. 64 No. 2 P. 238–252
During magnetospheric perturbations a relatively thin current sheet with thickness about several proton gyroradii forms in the Earth’s magnetotail. In a framework of the kinetic model describing current sheet thinning in the magnetotail, the processes of its formation are investigated depending on the normal magnetic field magnitude which affects both the current sheet structure and particle dynamics within ...

Asymmetric Equilibrium Structures of Superthin Current Sheets: The Asymmetry of Plasma Sources
Tsareva O. O., Malova H. V., V. Yu. Popov et al., Plasma Physics Reports 2026 Vol. 52 No. 2 P. 179–185
The influence of asymmetry of plasma sources on the structure and spatial localization of a superthin current sheet (STCS) supported by demagnetized electrons is studied using a self-consistent model. The simulation takes into account the presence of a single plasma source in the northern hemisphere, which makes the plasma flow asymmetric. It is demonstrated that the asymmetry of ...

Bondarenko G.G., Fisher M. R., Kristya V. I., Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics 2026 Vol. 90 No. 4 P. 572–576
A model of the cathode layer of a glow gas discharge with a thin dielectric film on a fraction of the cathode’s working surface is formulated. It is shown that a glow discharge most rapidly transits to an arc discharge, accompanied by a significant increase in discharge current density and a decrease in cathode voltage drop, if the ...

On Suspension Equivalent Homeomorphisms
Pochinka O., Yakovlev E., Shmukler V., Russian Journal of Nonlinear Dynamics 2026
Every discrete dynamical system (cascade) generated by a homeomorphism induces a continuous dynamic system (flow) — a suspension. However, not every flow is equivalent to a suspension over a cascade, a necessary and sufficient condition for this is the existence of a global section for the flow. In the case of the existence, the flow is equivalent to ...

Blobbed topological recursion and KP integrability
Kazaryan M., Dunin-Barkowski P., Bychkov B. et al., Selecta Mathematica, New Series 2026 Vol. 32 Article 25
We revise the notion of the blobbed topological recursion by extending it to the setting of generalized topological recursion as well as allowing blobs which do not necessarily admit topological expansion. We show that the so-called non-perturbative differentials form a special case of this revisited version of blobbed topological recursion. Furthermore, we prove the KP ...

The universal gl-weight system and the chromatic polynomial
Kazaryan M., Lando S., Kodaneva N., Journal of Geometry and Physics 2026 No. 225 Article 105841
Weight systems associated to the Lie algebras 𝔤𝔩(N) for N = 1,2,... can be unified into auniversal one. The construction is based on an extension of the 𝔤𝔩(N) weight systems to permutations. This universal weight system takes values in the algebra of polynomials C[N;C1,C2,...] in infinitely many variables. We show that under the substitution Cm ...

Stable Multi-Wavelength Resonant Metal-dielectric Hybrid Nanostructure in the Infrared Range
Zadkov V., Plasmonics 2026 Vol. 21 P. 1503–1512
Plasmonic nanostructures typically exhibit shifts in their resonant wavelength in response to changes in the refractive index of the surrounding medium. This limits their applications in scenarios requiring stable optical resonances. Here we present a metallic-dielectric hybrid metasurface that exhibits stable multi-wavelength resonance even if the refractive index of its surrounding varies. To quantitatively evaluate the stability of ...

Soliton dynamics under the influence of an external force and induced-damped terms within the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation
Melnikov I., Flamarion M., Nonlinear Dynamics 2026 No. 114 Article 42
The interaction of a solitary wave with an external force is studied within the framework of a modified Korteweg-de Vries equation, accounting for viscosity and damping. Using asymptotic methods, a dynamical system is derived to describe the amplitude and phase of the solitary wave. A bifurcation analysis of this system is presented, depending on the ...

Wave packet dynamics in rotating fluids within the Benjamin–Ono–Ostrovsky equation
Flamarion M. V., Pelinovsky E., Chaos, Solitons and Fractals 2026 Vol. 204 Article 117731
We investigate the evolution of algebraic solitons of the Benjamin–Ono (BO) equation and wave packets within the framework of the Benjamin–Ono–Ostrovsky (BOO) equation by combining asymptotic analysis with direct numerical simulations. The BOO model incorporates a low-frequency dispersive term that accounts for the effects of background rotation in a fluid. Through asymptotic expansion, we derive a ...

Quasi-confined modes produced by the Lugiato-Lefever model with a localized pump and the pseudo-Raman term
Gromov E., Malomed B. A., Physics Letters A 2026 Vol. 567 Article 131219
We introduce an extended nonlinear Lugiato-Lefever equation (LLE) with the pseudo-stimulated-Raman-scattering (pseudo-SRS) cubic term, linear damping/gain, and spatial inhomogeneous (weekly or strongly localized) pump. The LLE is derived, in the extended adiabatic approximation, from the underlying Zakharov’s system (ZS), which includes a viscosity term acting on its low-frequency (LF) component and the pump supporting the ...

Soliton solution classification in the generalized Korteweg–de Vries equation
Melnikov I., Nonlinear Dynamics 2025 No. 113 P. 32641–32648
All possible soliton solutions classification in the generalized KdV equation is given. It is proved that a solitonic solution can be one of four possible types: classical soliton (that is, sign-constant, with one extremum and two inflection points), pyramidal soliton (with a large number of inflection points), classical kink (a monotonic solution that goes to ...

Flamarion M., Pelinovsky E., Melnikov I., Chaos, Solitons and Fractals 2025 Vol. 196 Article 116422
We investigate the interaction of solitons with an external periodic field within the framework of the modified Korteweg–de Vries (mKdV) equation. In the case of small perturbation a simple dynamical system is used to describe the soliton behavior. Equilibrium points of this dynamical system are computed when the external force travels at a constant speed. Assuming that ...

Features of the interaction of paired solitary waves with the Cubic Vortical Whitham equation
Flamarion M. V., Pelinovsky E., Applied Mathematics and Computation 2025 Vol. 493 Article 129265
In this article, we consider the cubic vortical Whitham equation with both positive and negative nonlinearity to investigate overtaking solitary wave collisions. We compute solitary waves numerically, including ``thick'' solitary waves. Our results show that in both cases, the geometric Lax categorization holds, however, it is independent of the magnitude of the amplitude of the solitary waves. ...

Wave evolution within the cubic vortical Whitham equation
Flamarion M., Pelinovsky E., Wave Motion 2025 Vol. 134 Article 103485
In this work, we study the evolution of disturbances within the framework of the Cubic Vortical Whitham (CV-Whitham) equation, considering both positive and negative cubic nonlinearities. This equation plays important role for description of the wave processes in the presence of shear flows. We find well-formed breather-type structures arising from the evolution of depression disturbances with positive cubic nonlinearity. ...

Solitons in dissipative systems subjected to random force within the Benjamin–Ono type equation
Flamarion M., Pelinovsky E., Chaos, Solitons and Fractals 2024 Vol. 187 Article 115373
Solitary wave dynamics is investigated under the assumption of small dissipation and an external random force. Through a change of variables, the problem becomes homogeneous, allowing for the derivation of asymptotic algebraic soliton solutions. This change of variables makes the randomness manifest primarily on the soliton phases. Consequently, the averaged soliton field and the statistical moments can be ...
