How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Scientists Train Neural Network to Generate Process Plans from 3D Models
Researchers at the HSE FCS AI and Digital Science Institute have developed CAD2TechSpec, a framework that converts 3D models of mechanical parts into machining process plans—step-by-step instructions for machine tools. The solution aims to reduce the time required for the design and preparation of technical process documentation in mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, and other high-tech industries. The study findings have been published in PeerJ Computer Science.

Finite abelian groups acting on rationally connected threefolds II: groups of K3 type
Loginov K., Zhang Z., Pinardin A., / Series arXiv "math". 2025.
We study finite abelian groups acting on three-dimensional rationally connected varieties. We concentrate on the groups of K3 type, that is, abelian extensions by a cyclic group of groups that faithfully act on a K3 surface. In particular, if a finite abelian group faithfully acts on a threefold preserving a K3 surface (with at worst ...

ON UNDECIDABILITY OF FINITE SUBSETS THEORY FOR TORSION ABELIAN GROUPS
Sergey Mikhailovich Dudakov, Mathematics 2022 Vol. 10 No. 3 Article 533
Let M be a commutative cancellative monoid with an element of infinite order. The binary operation can be extended to all finite subsets of M by the  pointwise definition. So, we can consider the theory of finite subsets of M. Earlier, we have proved the following result: in the theory of finite subsets of M elementary ...

Büchi arithmetics BAn, , are extensions of Presburger arithmetic with an unary functional symbol denoting the largest power of n that divides x. Definability of a set in BAn is equivalent to its recognizability by a finite automaton receiving numbers in their n-ary expansion. We consider the interpretations of Presburger Arithmetic in the standard model of BAn and ...

Number of A+B\ne C solutions in abelian groups and application to counting independent sets in hypergraphs
Semchankau A., Shabanov D. A., Shkredov I., European Journal of Combinatorics 2022 Vol. 100 Article 103453
The paper deals with a problem of Additive Combinatorics. Let G be a finite abelian group of order n. We investigate the number of subset triples (A,B,C) such that for any x from A, y from B, c from C x+y is not equal to z. We prove the tight estimate for this value. As ...

Understanding population annealing Monte Carlo simulations
Weigel M., Barash L., Shchur L. et al., / Series cond-mat "arxiv.org". 2021. No. 2102.06611.
Population annealing is a recent addition to the arsenal of the practitioner in computer simulations in statistical physics and beyond that is found to deal well with systems with complex free-energy landscapes. Above all else, it promises to deliver unrivaled parallel scaling qualities, being suitable for parallel machines of the biggest caliber. Here we study ...

Параллельный алгоритм для аппроксимации рабочей области робота
Gorchakov A., Ignatov A., Малышев Д. И. et al., International Journal of Open Information Technologies 2019 Т. 7 № 1 С. 1–7

Synchronization of Conservative Parallel Discrete Event Simulations on a Small-World Network
Ziganurova L., Shchur L., Physical Review E - Statistical, Nonlinear, and Soft Matter Physics 2018 Vol. 98 No. 022218 P. 1–15
We examine the question of the influence of sparse long-range communications on the synchronization in parallel discrete event simulations (PDES). We build a model of the evolution of local virtual times (LVT) in a conservative algorithm including several choices of local links. All network realizations belong to the small-world network class. We find that synchronization ...

Parallel algorithm to detect structural changes in time series
Nikol'skii I. M., Computational Mathematics and Modeling 2016 Vol. 27 No. 2 P. 247–253
Analysis of long time series is relevant in many current applications. These investigations are usually carried out on multiprocessor computers (supercomputers). However, supercomputer calculations are efficient only if the time-series processing algorithms are sufficiently parallelized. In this article, we propose a parallel algorithm that detects shift points of the time-series mean — a highly important ...
