This chapter focuses on the general principles of calculating insurance rates (with an assessment of their constituent elements), taking into account the specifics of different types of insurance and types of ownership. It also provides a brief overview of the history of actuarial calculations. It also describes the methodological approaches to calculating insurance rates for all types of insurance in the Russian market. Particular attention is paid to compulsory social insurance, its types, and characteristics. The chapter also provides examples of certain types of insurance common in German and Russian practice.
