‟The dark side of leadership“: the problem of the negative consequences face subject seeking to be a leader
In R.M. Kutuev’s section “The dark side of leadership”: the problem of the negative consequences face subject seeking to be a leader, the “dark side of leadership” is considered as a set of negative consequences for the mental and somatic health of leaders and those who aspire to a leadership role. To understand the specifics of leadership, it is proposed to use a model of analysis of phenomena based on the triad “large group — small group — person”. The reasons for the desirability of leadership status in society and how this can lead to destructive types of leadership are also discussed. The section also presents the results of research on the “dark side” of leadership as a status, as a role, and as an integral personal characteristic. They demonstrate that leadership correlates with somatic diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, and others. These results can be useful for psychologists-consultants and representatives of related professions to diagnose and prevent negative conditions in leaders.
