'Cultural Studies Seeks to Understand What Lies Beneath the Surface of Everyday Things'
Maxim Zhiganov has been exploring different aspects of sound for many years—first in relation to his native Perm and then on a broader, global scale. In this interview for the HSE Young Scientists project, he talks about sound maps, the special issue of the journal Logos, and why it is important to make the familiar less clear and obvious.

At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Road Injuries Leading Cause of Death Among Men Aged 10 to 39
Worldwide, road injuries are the leading cause of death among males aged 10–39. An international team of researchers reached this conclusion as part of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023, analysing data from 204 countries between 1990 and 2023. Their findings have been published in The Lancet Public Health, with HSE University Professor Vasily Vlassov listed among the collaborators.

Some remarks on Došen's logic N and its extensions

Siberian Electronic Mathematical Reports. 2022. Vol. 19. No. 2. P. 562–577.
Speranski S. O.

This paper collects some observations about Došen's logic N, where negation is treated as a modal operator, and its extensions. We shall see what happens when we add the contraposition axiom to several important extensions of N, show that certain extensions of N are canonical, and also revisit the method of filtration.

Negation as a modality in a quantified setting
Speranski S. O., Journal of Logic and Computation 2021 Vol. 31 No. 5 P. 1330–1355
The idea of treating negation as a modality manifests itself in various logical systems, especially in Došen's propositional logic N, whose negation is weaker than that of Johansson's minimal logic. Among the interesting extensions of N are the propositional logics N* and Hype; the former was proposed in [Cabalar et al. 2006], while the latter has ...

Polytime embedding of intuitionistic modal logics into their one-variable fragments
Rybakov M., Shkatov D., Journal of Logic and Computation 2025 Vol. 35 No. 4 Article exae077
We prove that propositional intuitionistic modal logics FS and MIPC are polynomial-time embeddable, and hence polynomial-time equivalent to, their own one-variable fragments. The method of proof applies to a wide range of intuitionistic modal logics characterizable by two-dimensional frames, among them intuitionistic analogues of such classical modal logics as K4 and S4. ...

We obtain poly-time embeddings of the intuitionistic modal logics FS and MIPC into their positive one-variable fragments. ...
