This paper presents an analysis of creativity in general, as well as linguistic creativity in particular. These concepts are interrelated, since linguistic creativity comes from creativity. In the article, the author provides the main characteristics of the above mentioned concepts and the conditions for their implementation. The analysis identifies the types of linguistic creativity at different levels of the language system. Based on the mentioned previous types, an analysis of specific linguistic and creative techniques in John Green's work "An abundance of Katherines" is presented.
