Языковые ключи в драме Островского «Гроза»
С. 262–276.
The article explores repetition and key words in A. N. Ostrovsky's "Thunder-storm". The analysis of the most frequent words of the play - "house", "life", "death" - reveals that they are regularly used in the drama in the meanings which are opposite to their dictionary definitions. Life is synonymous with death, death bears true life, and house becomes a place not for living, but for torture. This distortion of fundamental concepts and notions underscores the similarity between the town of Kalinov and the kingdom of the dead . At the same time the association between the house and the grave points out the parallelism between Ostrovsky"s play and folklore texts, first of all, folk ballads.
