Context and Relevance. Time attitude constitutes an integral part of an individual’s time perspective. A positive time perspective serves as one of the factors contributing to adolescent well-being. The theoretical foundation of this study is based on time perspective theory, while incorporating novel approaches to measuring time attitudes developed by F. Worrell and Z. Mello, which complement P. Zimbardo’s model. Objective. To adapt the Adolescent Time Attitude Scale (ATAS) into Russian and examine its reliability and validity within a Russian-speaking sample of adolescents and young adults. Hypothesis. The factor structure of the Russian version corresponds to the original instrument, with the ATAS demonstrating adequate reliability and validity. Methods and Materials. To establish construct validity, we employed: Openness to Future Scale (OFS), General Self-Efficacy Scale, Life Orientation Test (LOT), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), PHQ-9 depression screening, and GAD-7 anxiety screening. Both factorial and convergent validity were analyzed. Results. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the six-factor structure of the Russian ATAS (CFI and TLI > 0,92, RMSEA and SRMR < 0,06). All subscales demonstrated high internal consistency (α-Cronbach and ω-McDonald coefficients ≥ 0,80). Conclusions. The Russian version of ATAS proves to be a reliable and valid instrument for assessing positive and negative attitudes toward past, present, and future. These temporal dimensions show significant predictive potential and may inform the development and evaluation of interventions aimed at fostering a positive time perspective in adolescent populations.
