Обучение служением и социальная миссия университета. Внедрение практики и работа с социальными партнерами. Методическое руководство для преподавателей. 2-е издание, расширенное и уточнённое.
The book contains methodological guidelines for introducing the practice of service learning into university teaching activities. This educational approach emerged in Russia relatively recently; however, within a short period it has evolved from pilot experiments to institutional recognition. The National Research University Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg has become one of the pioneers in implementing this new methodology within the Russian educational landscape.
The methodology of service learning as a pedagogical practice traces its origins to the educational philosophy of John Dewey (1859–1952), an American philosopher and educator. In Russian pedagogy, Anton Semenovich Makarenko developed a concept resonant with service learning—namely, the Soviet idea of “people’s pedagogy,” which emphasized personal development through collective engagement in a “common cause.” This model presupposed education and upbringing through labor that produces social benefit. In higher education, service learning is based on deriving lessons from socially useful work. The combination of traditional academic learning with active contributions to the life of society fosters more holistic student development and the formation of responsible citizenship, offering participants the opportunity to address real needs of their surrounding communities during the learning process.
This methodological guide is intended for university faculty and educational specialists, as well as for professionals from socially oriented companies, non-profit organizations, and other interested stakeholders.
