HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. Монолитная интеграция микродисковых лазеров на основе InGaAs/GaAs квантовых точек с просветляемыми оптическими волноводами

The directed emission output of microdisk lasers through a coupled optical waveguide fabricated from the same heterostructure has been investigated. Disks with diameters of 30 and 40 µm containing an active region based on InGaAs/GaAs quantum dots were studied. To reduce absorption losses in the waveguide, a forward bias was applied to it. At a waveguide current of about 60 mA, a sharp (almost an order of magnitude) increase in the extracted optical power of the microlaser was observed, which the authors attribute to the achievement of the waveguide transparency state.
