‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

An Image Watermarking Algorithm in DCT Domain Based on Optimal Patterns

P. 1–5.
Anna Melman, Oleg Evsutin, Danil Smirnov

Sharing images via social media and specialized sites creates a copyright issue. Image watermarking methods provide copyright protection for authors and owners of digital content. The security level of a watermarking algorithm depends on a watermark’s resistance to various distorting effects, such as brightness changing, contrast changing, applying a Gaussian filter, and others. At the same time, a watermark needs to be invisible in most cases, so as not to disturb a perception of an image by a viewer. In this paper, we propose a new image watermarking algorithm in a domain of discrete cosine transform, which provides a balance between embedding imperceptibility and robustness. This algorithm uses redundant embedding based on patterns and synchronization blocks to provide embedding robustness to image processing operations. A high level of imperceptibility is provided by optimizing patterns using a genetic algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate high values of key quality metrics such as PSNR, SSIM, and BER.

This article considers a dual problem of optimizing field coverage while minimizing a soil compaction and managing energy constraints of agricultural robots. The soil compaction in precision agriculture is a major challenge, as mobile robots are becoming increasingly common in field operations. A proposed optimization combines a soil compaction risk assessment with energy-efficient trajectory planning ...

On the Use of Metaheuristics of Different Classes and an Island Model for Image Steganography
Anna Melman, Mikhail Alexandrov, Oleg Evsutin, , in: 2025 XIХ International Symposium on Problems of Redundancy in Information and Control Systems (Redundancy), 5-7 Nov. 2025.: IEEE, 2025. P. 1–6.
Digital steganography protects the privacy of data by hiding them in some digital containers, such as images. Protection of confidential messages by hiding them in digital images faces the problem of balancing the main performance indicators, i.e. embedding imperceptibility and capacity. Metaheuristic optimization can be used to flexibly customize embedding options, including parameters and locations ...

Screen-Cam Imitation Module for Improving Data Hiding Robustness
Dzhanashia K., Aleksandr Fedosov, Oleg Evsutin, Sensors 2025 Vol. 25 No. 23 Article 7726
Using an attack-simulation module is a well-recognized approach to improving the robustness of end-to-end neural-network-based data-hiding schemes. However, most proposed attack simulators are limited in the types of attacks they cover, usually handling only a basic set of digital transformations. Real, in-demand use cases for data-hiding methods may involve modifications that cannot be modeled by ...

Hybrid domain based data embedding using quantization index modulation and metaheuristic optimization
Melman A., Evsyutin O., Knowledge-Based Systems 2025 Vol. 329 No. B Article 114429
Embedding additional information into digital images is an effective method of data privacy protection. A data hiding scheme needs to have a high level of imperceptibility to provide a high level of security. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain good capacity and ability to extract information in its original form. In this ...

Overview of methods to improve execution time in image steganography and watermarking
Melman A., Dzhanashia K., Evsyutin O., Computer Standards and Interfaces 2026 Vol. 96 Article 104066
The cybersecurity problems remain extremely relevant in the modern world. Every year image steganography and watermarking schemes are proposed that solve the problems of hidden confidential data transfer and image authentication, respectively. The authors attempt to maximize the main embedding indicators, such as capacity, invisibility, and robustness. However, in practice, the time effectiveness of embedding ...

The widespread use of digital content makes the task of protecting author’s and owner’s rights increasingly important, in particular with regard to digital images. Digital watermarking technology is an effective tool that solves many problems associated with proving authorship of images, verifying authenticity, and tracking illegal copying. An effective watermarking algorithm requires achieving high levels ...

Protecting ownership of digital content is challenging in today’s online world, especially when sharing content through social networks and instant messengers. One possible solution is the use of watermarking; however, if the watermarking method is not robust enough, the watermark can get damaged or erased during transmission. This study introduces a template-based watermarking method with ...
