Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Social Integration: At the Crossroads of Knowledge and Values
The International Laboratory for Social Integration Research (ILSIR) at HSE University studies the challenges faced by vulnerable groups and explores ways to help them participate fully in everyday life. To develop effective solutions, the laboratory’s researchers combine cutting-edge methods with practical fieldwork. In this interview with the HSE News Service, Laboratory Head Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova discusses the laboratory’s work.

Performance of Supercomputers Based on Angara Interconnect and Novel AMD CPUs/GPUs

P. 401–416.
Shamsutdinov A., Khalilov M., Ismagilov T., Piryugin A., Biryukov S., Stegailov V., Timofeev A.

A low-latency high bandwidth interconnect that makes a unified system from a collection of nodes is a heart of any modern su- percomputer. At the moment, Infiniband is the main commercially avail- able type of interconnect without any other real competition world-wide. Proprietary interconnects are known to stand behind effcient supercomputer systems. Since 2016, the supercomputer centre of JIHT RAS deploys systems based on the Angara interconnect developed in Moscow by JSC NICEVT. In this paper, we present the performance analysis for two recently upgraded supercomputers in JIHT RAS that are based on two types of Angara interconnect and modern AMD Epyc CPUs and AMD Instinct MI50 GPUs. The general properties of Angara intercon- nects are described and compared with Infiniband FDR. The details of HPL benchmark runs on both systems are analysed.

Towards performance analysis of GPU-aware MPI over Angara interconnect
Ismagilov T., Mukosey A., Smirnov F. et al., International Journal of High Performance Computing Applications 2026 Vol. 40 No. 2 P. 240–253
One of the most important aspects of supercomputer development in the post-Moore era is the interconnect technologies that allow one to unite a multitude of processing elements into a well-synchronized computing system. Novel types of supercomputer interconnect require careful benchmarking and compliance with the requirements of modern hardware trends. GPU-based heterogeneous computing is one of ...

Tracing of GPU-Aware MPI Applications: First Benchmarks for the Angara Interconnect
Ismagilov T., Mukosey A., Smirnov F. et al., , in: Parallel Processing and Applied Mathematics. 15th International Conference, PPAM 2024, Ostrava, Czech Republic, September 8–11, 2024, Revised Selected Papers, Part IVol. 15579: Lecture Notes in Computer Science.: Springer, 2025. P. 256–270.
The efficiency of data transfer is one of the most important issues of supercomputer development in the post-Moore era. The rise of heterogeneous computing systems introduces such complicated patterns of data transfers as, for instance, the GPU-aware MPI technology. The practical deployment of this technology in applications requires the development of the dedicated system software ...

Performance Evaluation of Large Table Association Problem Implemented in Apache Spark on Cluster with Angara Interconnect
Agarkov A., Semenov A., , in: Proceedings of the 3rd Ural Workshop on Parallel, Distributed, and Cloud Computing for Young ScientistsVol. 1990: Proceedings of the 3rd Ural Workshop on Parallel, Distributed, and Cloud Computing for Young Scientists.: CEUR Workshop Proceedings, 2017. P. 92–101.
In this paper we consider an association problem with constraints for two dynamically enlarging tables. We consider a base full association algorithm and propose a partial association algorithm that improves efficiency of the base algorithm. We implement and evaluate the algorithms in Apache Spark for a particular case on the cluster with Angara interconnect. ...
