One approach to metadata inclusion in electronic documents
The article describes an approach to the metadata inclusion into Open XML and ODF documents. This metadata allows implement semantic indexing. The described solution is realized as a software library SemanticLib that provides a uniform access to documents in these formats.
This study investigates main problems of automation and optimization of educational processes with the help of BPMS and Big Data. The questions concerning process modeling are raised, particularly related to the integration of process-oriented and business analysis systems. The main goal of study is to find possible new way to implement the ideas of metadata integrity, closed-loop process controls, data storage adapters and hidden processes discovery. These ideas are proven to be necessarily implemented in the new complex type of information systems and the corresponding methodology. The new structure for this type of systems is introduced with brief explanations of solutions and methodologies chosen for the task. The concept of process repositories, which could be found in previous works, is developed: process repositories are shown as the basis to create standardized interoperable components for the global educational information system. The working prototype partially implementing the concept is demonstrated in the case of online learning resources usage. The prototype describes the key aspects: metadata descriptions, data gathering and process mining. This leads to real prototype implementations of all elements introduced as the part of complex theoretical structure. The study proposes means to improve prototype and build the complete system out of it. In conclusion, the examples of working applications based on the idea are listed. The new complex structure, methodology description and working prototypes are the results of this study
The research reported in this paper aims at introducing principally new approach to the design of traceability applications for supply network by the means of semantically consistent and conceptually aligned abstractions of business-processes, data, and software architecture. To derive needed abstractions, proposed approach uses the general principles of enterprise ontology for meta-description of business objects and processes, conceptual modeling techniques for data representation in a universal format, and multi-agent solution adjusted with an ontological view on data model and business processes of organizations. The method for data modeling consistent with the business view on supply chain activities is introduced and exemplified. Agent-based approach to tracing data analysis and particular model of intellectual agents are presented.
The paper provides information on an educational internet project aimed at integration of open educational resources of Russian universities and other educational institutions. The conceptual aspects of the project, the software functionality, the informational components, the structure of metadata, the questions of content management including the approach for resources collecting and evaluating are described.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th Conference on Knowledge Engineering and the Semantic Web, KESW 2013, held in St. Petersburg, Russia, in October 2013. The 18 revised full papers presented together with 7 short system descriptions were carefully reviewed and selected from 52 submissions. The papers address research issues related to knowledge representation, semantic web, and linked data.
Data integration in enterprises is a crucial but at the same time costly and challenging problem. While business-critical information is stored in ERP, CRM, SCM and in Content Management systems the integration of such becomes even more critical when integrating with the growing information space on the Web. The IT industry has developed over the last decade integration solutions based on Master Data Management, Business Intelligence and the Service Oriented Architecture. However, we become increasingly aware that such technologies are not sufficient to ultimately solve all data integration challenges. Under the vision of context-aware services and integration we propose to apply the technology of the Linked Data paradigm. This approach seems to be promising, as scientists in the evolution of the Semantic Web have used it. We discuss Linked Data approaches in relation to the value chain and information integration of heterogeneous content and present an example of a CRM business process applying the Linked Data principles.
This paper covers results of the project on development of open electronic library of educational resources for high school. This library is the part of educational portal named "Unified window for access to educational resources" (window.edu.ru) and contains more than 25000 textbooks, tutorials, lecture notes and other materials created in Russian universities.
