Power Distribution in the Networks of Terrorist Groups: 2001-2016
P. 1-10.
Since 9/11, terrorism has become a global issue of the 21st century. Terrorist organizations become important actors of world politics as they gain influence on political process and decision-making. We study the distribution of power among terrorist groups using network approach.

Decades ago, alongside more traditional structuralist paradigms that were largely based on linguistic theorems (Lotman 1972, Titzmann 1977), literary studies began to undertake structural analyses based on empirical sociology, in particular the social network analysis. Structure was no longer solely defined by semantic relations (such as opposition or equivalence), but by social interactions, too (Marcus ...

Game theory has recently become a useful tool for modeling and studying various
networks. The past decade has witnessed a huge explosion of interest in issues that
intersect networks and game theory. With the rapid growth of data traffic, from any
kind of devices and networks, game theory is requiring more intelligent transformation.
Game theory is called to play ...

In this paper, we propose and implement a method for detecting intersecting and nested communities in graphs of interacting objects of different natures. For this, two classical algorithms are taken: a hierarchical agglomerate and one based on the search for k-cliques. The combined algorithm presented is based on their consistent application. In addition, parametric options ...

The processing of networks of interacting objects makes it possible to solve topical issues in the modern world of identifying opinion leaders and channels for the dissemination and exchange of information. In this work, the structure of networks of interacting objects and their possible analysis with the help of weighted graphs based on the interaction ...

We propose a novel method to estimate the level of interconnectedness of a financial institution or system, as the measures currently suggested in the literature do not fully take into consideration an important aspect of interconnectedness — group interactions of agents. Our approach is based on the power index and centrality analysis and is employed ...

Although there is no uniform definition of “terrorism”, the majority of existing ones include at least one common characteristic of terrorist activities, that is an attempt at intimidation and influencing the common consciousness. Some researchers posit that terrorism might be described as an act of violence conceived to attract attention and send a message through ...

A feature-rich network is a network whose nodes are characterized by categorical or quantitative features. We propose a data-driven model for finding a partition of the nodes to approximate both the network link data and the feature data. The model involves summary quantitative characteristics of both network links and features. We distinguish between two modes ...

Abstract
Introduction Alcohol consumption is a considerable public health problem that is especially harmful to young people. To develop effective prevention programmes targeted at adolescents, it is important to understand the social mechanisms triggering alcohol consumption. Among such mechanisms, peer influence plays an important role. The effects of peer influence are very difficult to evaluate because of ...

We propose a new method for assessing agents' influence in financial network structures, which takes into consideration the intensity of interactions. A distinctive feature of this approach is that it considers not only direct interactions of agents of the first level and indirect interactions of the second level, but also long-range indirect interactions. At the ...

In recent decades, a large number of centrality measures have been proposed to assess the importance of nodes in complex networks. The choice of the most appropriate centrality index for specific applications is one of the biggest challenges. This paper performs the perturbation analysis of 8 centrality measures. Since most real networks are incomplete and ...
