The article is devoted to understanding the theoretical and practical
aspects of the role of the media and network media in the spread of various forms of
violence. In the article reviewed the existing approaches to understanding of media
violence and articulated the author’s position on this issue. Particular attention is paid
to the category of “the image of the enemy”. In the article revealed the main features
of the social actors, which are “chosen” to the role of the enemy. In addition in the
article presented typology of actors marked in the media as enemies. Also in the article
proposed some actions, the implementation of which could reduce the level of
media violence.
