Strategic development and dynamic models of supply chains: search for effective model constructions.
In this research the author studies the approaches to simulation of strategic development of supply chains and formation of cooperation strategies on the basis of the methods of ontology engineering, complex system dynamics simulation and agent-based simulation.
This book constitutes a collection of selected contributions from the 12th International Conference on Perspectives in Business Informatics Research, BIR 2013, held in Warsaw, Poland, in September 2013. Overall, 54 submissions were rigorously reviewed by 41 members of the Program Committee representing 21 countries. As a result, 19 full and 5 short papers from 12 countries have been selected for publication in this volume. This book also includes the two keynotes by Witold Abramowicz and Bernhard Thalheim. The papers cover many aspects of business information research and have been organized in topical sections on: business process management; enterprise and knowledge architectures; organizations and information systems development; information systems and services; and applications.
This paper presents a new approach to designing integrated simulation models for large corporations. This approach is based on the use of system-dynamics methods for implementing models of segments of the vertically integrated company taking into account the available direct and feedback links. All models have been designed with the help of power simulation tool - Powersim Studio. In addition, the designed simulation system has been integrated with created genetic algorithm and the corporate data warehouse.
The paper describes the development of a portal about development and use of tools based on the (meta) modeling (using DSM, DSL, etc.). The architecture of a portal, information retrieval subsystem and document management are described.
The purpose of the portal is the creation of "selfdeveloping" resource, which provides intelligent search and automatic processing of the results (documents and sources), easy navigation on the found resources. Implementation is based on the ontologies approach.
The main feature of suggested methods is an integrated approach to development. The approach bases on a multi-level ontology repository. The portal allows searching and analyzing information, creating and researching model, publishing research results. Software gives an opportunity of a flexible customizing. The main topic of this paper is an intelligent information search means based on semantic indexation, automatic document classification, tracking of semantic links between documents and automatic summarization.
This research work deals with the problem formulation of control of complex organizational structures. The mechanism of functioning of such systems is described by example of a vertically integrated company (VIC). The problems of strategic and operative control of VIC are considered. The methods for solving such problems based on genetic algorithms and neural networks are suggested. A new iterative procedure for coordination of strategic and operative control goals based on the estimation of imbalance between shareholder value and net profit distributed for payment of dividends to shareholders is suggested.
The considered system is a double criterion optimization problem with complex multiparameter restrictions.
Nowadays simulation modeling is applied for solving a wide range of problems. There are simulations which require significant performance and time resources. To decrease overall simulation time a model can be converted to a distributed system and executed on a computer network. The goal of this project is to create a library enabling clear and rapid development parallel discrete event models in AnyLogic. The library is aimed for professionals in computer simulation and helps to reduce code amount. The project includes a research on different synchronization algorithms. In this paper we present techniques which can be used in creating distributed models. We present comparison of a single threaded model with a distributed model implementing optimistic algorithm. The comparison shows a significant improvement in wallclock time achieved by separating the model into independent submodels with minimal communications.
In this work is presented a new approach to the designing of intelligent systems of the control of the shareholder value for the vertical-integrated Financial Corporation (VIFK). Developed system based on using of system-dynamics methods for the simulation of the synergic interaction between different business directions of VIFK for the target of shareholder value maximization. Note, the described system has been successfully introduced in biggest Russian banking groups and it is used for the preparing of strategic decisions.
