In article on the basis of the study of complex dissertation research related to issues of NEP, proposed a set of quantitative and qualitative criteria for the compilation of «research map», which allow to identify the place and role of historiography of the NEP in domestic and world historical community. Also in the article on the example of dissertations 1990-2000s main tendencies in the development of the historiography of the new economic policy.

Present work is aimed at summarizing and classifying the principle areas and genres of the Italian historical and political thought of the XVI century (Cinquecento). Addressing the large corpus of historical and political literature of the period, author focuses on pragmatically oriented writings, influenced by Machiavelli and directed against him; treatises, inheriting the scholastic political culture; monumental Counterreformation works; writings, succeeding to the Quattrocento humanistic tradition; a vast bulk of erudite “antiquarian” literature; samples of popular didactic genres (biographies, concetti). The multiplicity of historical literary genres is treated as a system of forms and ways of converting the knowledge about the Past into an instrument of social orientation as well as into a means of argumentation in exposition of political views.

This article reconstructs the activity of the 'Alexander Yakushev school', a scholarly movement whose representatives over the last 20 years have studied the history of awarding academic degrees in the Russian Empire, the USSR and the Russian Federation. The causes of this school's emergence, its research areas are analyzed, and its achievements are evaluated. The article also assesses the reform plan for the thesis review procedure which Yakushev suggested after the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) refused to confirm the higher doctorate in law he had been awarded.

For decades of the Cold War and for centuries before it the interests of both Russian and British academics that studied the history of each other’s countries seemed to be centred mainly on differences and conflicts between them, providing multiple detailed accounts of mutual hostility. The emergence of the Tea Party movement in recent years has shown that under the surface of mainstream political life in the USA there exists a different layer of ideas, which cannot be satisfactorily described in terms of the Republican/Democrat dichotomy. These ideas have their origins in the foundation of the American Republic, which owes a lot to ancient and mediaeval political theory. In the twentieth century there was a revival of these ideas in the form of the so-called “paleoconservative” movements which rediscovered their ancient and mediaeval heritage. This paper focuses on one of them, the Southern Agrarian movement, as exemplary of this radical intellectual project.
