The problem of criminal "hot points" of and their reflection by mass media are herein analyzed. Some conclusions are formulated on measures, which could subdue an imminent wave in the country. A practical emphasis is made on the role of the legislation in this case.
The so-called Kiev Maidan of 2013-2014 is analyzed herein, the legal description of events occurred was given and the outcomes arising therefrom are described. The delimitation of such Maidans from any social protests of positive nature is made; the causes of crimes committed during riots hidden under political rhetoric are shown. The provocative role of the street opposition in criminal protests is revealed and a set of measures is indicated to prevent any possible loosening of the situation in the Russian context.
In the context of the general theory of protest events there are analyzed mass riots occurred in the period from November to February in 2013-2014 in Kiev. The characteristic is given to the coup committed in the course thereof and to radical forces, which came to power based in their politics on crimes - in all their forms and diversities, including punitive actions inflicted in relation to the South-East of the country. On this material the criminal law potentialities are studied for the prevention, suppression and the elimination of a criminal constituent of such events.
The problem of corruption in relationships between business and law-enforcement authority, conclusions on necessity to strengthen the social and legal control over those relationships are justified.
To the occurrence of xenophobia in international relations there should be opposed tolerance as the expression of human freedom asserting social peace and legal order.
