The article examines specific features of the African American anthroponymic system in terms of the category of iden- tity and the anthropocentric approach to language studies.
Personal names of African Americans represent the social status and mentality of the name giver. The name giver chooses a name according to his or her fundamental beliefs and values with the help of identity expression.
Anthropocentrism is reflected in the lexicon of any language in a specific way, which is most vividly apparent in the naming process. The paper shows that the anthroponymic system of a language is influenced by the values and motives of its creators. The anthroponymic approach to language studies fosters not only language development, but the study of human capacity for linguistic creativity. Personal names accumulate historical, linguistic, social and ethnoc- ultural experience of an ethnic group or a nation.

The research focuses on the communicative strategies of agreement and is aimed at creating a typology of those strategies. Despite the fact that communication and its strategies are the key concepts of numerous scholarly works, communicative strategies, on the whole, and communicative strategies of agreement, in particular, are not thoroughly structured and there is no frame, containing the whole set of inner communicative characteristics. The article focuses on agreement as the nuclear concept underlying the classification created on the basis of Dan Brown‘s books about Robert Langdon. Agreement presupposes either consensus or an affirmative response based on any type of manipulation. The plot of the books develops in modern society, and the main characters of the books belong to various countries and cultures, including representatives of the United States of America, Spain, Italy, Japan and France, which makes the classification universal. Moreover, the latest book under study was published in 2017, which adds novelty to the research. Taking into account the specificity of the research material, the typology is applicable primarily to verbal strategies and tactics of agreement, but non-verbal, para-verbal and extralinguistic elements of the typology are not excluded and can be examined in subsequent studies

Language exercises are widely used in teaching foreign languages; yet, manually creating exercises is labor-intensive and time-consuming. This paper describes a method for automatically generating EFL wordbank cloze exercises. These are generated from arbitrary passages in English, which is an important advantage in terms of learner motivation; indeed, the content of the exercises can be tailored to learners’ interests. Another feature of the method is exercise difficulty adjustment. Unlike other systems, our algorithm does not rely on many external linguistic resources and can be thus more easily adapted to other languages. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the proposed method. The experiments showed that our algorithm performs significantly better than the ‘naïve’ random-sample baseline and that its precision of making gaps is 97%.

The results of the textbook piloting demonstrate the relevance and efficiency of the approach implemented in a course for post-graduate students, academics and researchers.
The present study analyses the markers of feminine identity that reflect the curr
ent tendencies of gender
ideology and language policy of the modern English
speaking society. The peculiarity of the approach employed
in the study is the comparative analysis of the most frequent markers of femininity in lexicographical resources of
XI century along with communicative contexts of the British media that are used to identify gender
variants of lexical units and their use in speech. Definitions of Cambridge English Dictionary, English Oxford
Living Dictionaries, Longman Exams Dic
tionary, Macmillan English Dictionary Online; word
semantic spheres; communicative contexts of the British newspaper ―The Independent‖ are considered to be the
markers, which construct the image of the modern woman and her social roles. T
he results of the study indicate
a shift in gender asymmetry towards linguistic equality, but at the same time, the results reveal the preservation of
androcentrism in the modern English language and speech.
