Learning environment depends much on the teacher, and, in particular, on their emotional intelligence. This article examines the impact of emotional competence of a foreign language teacher on the effectiveness of the learning process at university on the example of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

In the spring of 2014 as a result of the worsening political crisis in Ukraine was proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic still unrecognized by the world community and located at the epicenter of the fading, then growing military activities. The existing on the territory of the Republic of system of professional education collapsed and began to revive again, the most significant changes have affected higher education: reregistered existing and open new universities; adopted a new list of areas of training and special majoring; reoriented from the Ukrainian to the Russian education system. In article on the basis of statistical data and personal observations presents an analysis of the modern state system of higher education of the Donetsk people's Republic. Discusses the quantitative and qualitative composition of contingent of students, teaching staff, organization of educational process, development of educational standards and programs, accreditation of educational institutions.

The problem of the correction of points scored by students during testing is considered. Classical correction formulas are modified with regard to refusal of guessing the answer. It is shown that the number of guessing is significantly influenced by test evaluation conditions. New formulas for test score correction are derived.

This paper studies the results of integration of massive open online courses (MOOCs) into curriculum of the ESP (English for specific purposes) course at the department of Business Informatics of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE). The experimental teaching  with integration of MOOK component in the ESP course have demonstrated that the educational outcome in this case may be higher than in a traditional course, due to the increase of students motivation provided by individualized learning, the use of modern authentic teaching materials, participation in international educational community. Research findings illustrate that imbedding MOOCs in the university ESP course could become the basis for the integrated study of special subjects and the English language in the international learning community, under the condition that on-campus courses have been re-designed to incorporate MOOC-like components.

The article deals with the description of the model which illustrates the process of students' research skills development. The model is tested on the student audience of the National research university Higher School of Economics (Moscow). The model has theoretical and practical importance as it is built in accordance with the framework of educational standards of research universities in part of stimulating students' research activity and academic independence. Moreover, the model reflects the main stages of the process of students' research skills development and it is based on potential employers’ expectations of highly developed analytical and research skills of the graduates.

Presented is analysis of rapid changes in the world and in the Russian society, requiring deep understanding of developing processes and resources for sustainable development. In this context, education becomes the most important resource for socio-economic and spiritual development of Russian state, determining social stability and the level of education of population. The article describes gender analysis of educational potential of Russian youth, and also analyzes the value attitude to education in the context of gender issues. On the basis of indicators of education, defined are differences in the structure of employment of men and women. Considered are deformations of educational status of the youth. Results of the research allowed to draw conclusion about the structure of the construct of educational potential of the youth.

The article deals with the opportunities for using such technological approaches to individualization of students' research skills as project method, learning in cooperation and information and computer technologies.
