June 13-14, 2017 the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences held the 13th Russian-Spanish Seminar, organized by the Centre of Iberian Studies and titled "Europe in the period of «New Normal»: political, economic and social strategies of Russia and Spain". Touching upon a wide range of issues the participants sought to analyze the processes of transformation in Spain and Russia in the recent period of "New Normal".
Nowadays, when the traditional factors of world leadership are becoming less important, the key role on the global market play that countries, who have managed to modernize its agricultural sector and to provide the favourable positions for its activity and development. In this context the experience of the leading countries of Larin America, and especialy of Brazil, is of interest. Brazil have managed to modernize its agriculture and to become one of the key exporters of the agricultural products to the world market. This article covers the factors, which have let Brazil to transform its outdated agricultural sector to one of the most competitive branch of its economy, Brazils export by type of the product and by geography of trade and also the week points of Brazilian agricultural policy.
The research is devoted to the investigation into Mexican Oil Industry development
trends and its positions on the world oil market, with the purpose to identify
main challenges and perspectives. The sector demonstrated negative dynamics during

This article analyzes the social profile of the Spanish party Podemos proponents and voters. Moreover, it reveals social perspective of this party in domestic political context at the moment of 2015-2016. The emergence of new actors on the political scene has transformed the alignment of party forces that have been existed over forty years.
Cinema induced tourism has a significant global growth during last 20 years caused by the rising touristic demand. Barcelona case study shows how cinema tourism can supplement the traditional sun and city tourism. The paper demonstrates how city districts, monuments and public spaces shown in the movies and other visual art performances shape the city image. Author defines the cinema routes of Barcelona based on the most popular films and analyses how films influence the foreign touristic flow and the inner redistribution of tourists in the city.
This article presents an analysis of the reasons for the unpopularity in the country of the President of Mexico, E.Peña Nieto, occupying the post of head of state from 2012 to 2018. The author analyzes the stages and events that influenced the results of the statistics of his support among the population and led to such low ratings. The work deals with the consequences of this situation, both for the President and the political leadership of the country he heads. The article is based on material published by the Mexican media.
Author analyzed the world distribution of the key awards of 15 leading film festivals according to the FIAPF (fr. Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films) for all years of carrying out. It is not only the representation of the countries but the chronology and factors of it’s appearing among the winners. Certain Latin American award winners were examined through its plot. Also the films shot by directors-migrants are considered. The paper shows what images of countries and cities award winners translate to the world. Among the Latin American countries the majority of the awards was received by Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. The main town for the most outstanding movies of Brazil is Rio de Janeiro. The «Brazilian» plots are often developed also in the northeast of the country. In case of Argentina the action of the winner movies happens in Buenos Aires or just in certain «big city». Many Latin American movies are connected by the scene of action and a plot with a natural dominant of the region, the Amazon river. The authentic plots (highly valued by film festival juries) can be found in the works of migrant directors. One of the brightest Mexican winner movie was directed by Diego Quemada-Díaz, who migrated from Spain to Mexico. «The golden dream» narrates about three teenagers who goes from Guatemala to the USA.
The article is devoted to the achievements and failures of Mexican–American relations during the time of Barack Obama presidency in the U.S. (2009—2017). The paper considers the most important issues on the bilateral agenda, such as migration, economic cooperation, combating the illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons in the context of the application of the "soft power" policy. A comparative analysis of foreign policy conducted in this direction by the previous administration of George W.Bush (2001—2009) was also conducted.
The article is devoted to the analysis of internal and external migration processes in Venezuela, using the statistics of population censuses about migrants stock. The country has both quite typical for the Latin American countries, as well as some unique features of migration. Despite the attempts to implement regional development programs, there is a concentration of the population in the narrow list of states. The country has been hosting international migrants for a long time. There is an increase in emigration and a decline in immigration in recent decades. The new wave of outflow from the country began in 2014 due to the economic crisis. The scale of the current migration outflow can only be determined after the new censuses of the 2020 round.
The article deals with the specifics of the formation of a services single market in the framework of CARICOM. The author analyses the evolution of the integration processes in terms of their contribution to the liberalization of services trade. The article describes the main characteristics of participation of CARICOM in international services trade and the factors constraining the role of CARICOM in the global services market.
The phrase “the best foreign policy is domestic policy” became some kind of mantra for the new administration, headed by the new president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (2018 - present), at the beginning of his mandate remaining focused solely on internal problems, and forgetting about representing Mexico’s interests in the world. And, despite the fact that foreign policy issues remained far behind, compared with domestic problems, the new administration has at long last taken a number of steps in the field of international relations and foreign policy, which did not go unnoticed by the wide public. The article is devoted to changes in the foreign policy priorities of Mexico, occurring after the new president came to power in the country. In this context, relations between this Latin American country and the United States, China, Latin America are considered. It is shown how, within the framework of these main directions of foreign policy, the new Mexican administration offers new ways of solving strategic issues. The article presents an analysis of Mexican-Venezuelan relations at the beginning of the XXI century. The position of the mediator, taken by Mexico in relation to the Venezuelan crisis, confirmed the traditional commitment of this country to the principles of the Estrada Doctrine. Author cites the main factors influencing today on the formation of Mexico’s foreign policy.
