The paper considers “discourse” from the perspectives of different theories and authors, it describes the main characteristics and types of discourse, and it also lists specific features of “discursive competence” and accentuates its importance in the process of teaching foreign languages communication in the new paradigm of the Russian education system.

This article contains some reflections of the authors concerning some aspects of ontology of Plato in respect of the presentation of categories of ideal existence and ideal unity of the world. There is an attempt to show that Plato, contrary to a popular opinion, did not succeed in proving consistently the ideal unity of the world, that the unity of the world in Plato’s belief is not ontological, substantive but is rather logicalcategory. Therefore, his idealism cannot quite apply for the status of absolute, consistent and complete.
