The increase of the supply chains efficiency requires optimization of all types of logistic operations and functions. One of such functions is the choice of intermediaries (carriers, freight forwarders, suppliers, service enterprises etc.) and, according to some specialists, it is a major strategic decision in management supply chains. The methods of choosing the logistic intermediaries are considered in many works, however, some questions remain debatable. The article discusses the analytical and expert approaches which serve as a basis to choose the intermediaries; along with it, in the article a comparative evaluation of choice expert methods is done: point-rating assessment, analytic hierarchy process and the general algorithm for selecting; the conclusions have been drawn about the applicability of each method

The carried out studies show that from the point of view of the issue of efficiency increase of logistical systems, there are several key aspects. Firstly, choice of methods for managing the triad of logistics functions ‘inventory management - warehousing – transportation’, where the inventory management issues are considered as the most relevant ones. Secondly, there is recognized the need to move the studies of multi-level systems within the framework of the concept of supply chain management. Nowadays, supply chains, which are represented by the distribution system, are widespread in practice. The most common of them are two-level ones with a central supplier at the second level and a certain number of companies at the first level; and multi-level systems of the distribution configuration network in which multi-nomenclature stocks are located. The article is devoted to the design and enhancement of analytical platform for inventory management in such distribution systems.

The article features an approach to comparative assessments of logistics centres operational efficiency based on the system of logistics key performance indicators and describes the framework methodology and the order for the development of the methodology support of the specified task.

The study was conducted in the framework of the Rail Baltica Growth Corridor (RBGC) Russia project, which seeks to involve North-West Russia in the dialogue about Rail Baltica transport corridor and is supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Russia for period 2012-2013. Particularly, RBGC Russia addresses the issues of operational and functional interoperability of logistics centres in Eastern Baltic Sea Region.

In this article we deal with the approach to logistic systems efficiency increase on the basis of various forms of logistic integration development in supply chains, with modified variants of model of economic order quantity for the echelon two-level systems which allow considering the costs correlations at the different system levels, the different stock warehousing strategies, the multi-nomenclature of orders. The appropriate calculations have been done for the suggested modified models approbation.

For efficiently increasing the logistic systems, the core specialists' attention has to be directed to reducing costs and increasing supply chains reliability. A decent attention to costs reduction has already been paid, so it can be stated that in this way there is a significant progress. But the problem of reliability evaluation is still insufficiently explored, particularly, in such an important sphere as inventory management at the dependent demand. In the article there is a suggested methodical approach that allows calculating the safety stock quantity at the dependent demand in view of supply chains reliability requirements; the variants for different inventory management strategies at the dependent demand are examined; optimal strategy choice algorithm and results of total costs calculation in view of the reliability are given.

Nowadays in logistics integral processes between the material and related flows in supply chains are getting developed more and more. However, in spite of increasing volume of statistical data which reflect the integral processes, the influence evaluation issues of the logistic operations reliability indexes on the total logistics costs remain open and require the corresponding researches implementation. In this article we offer the methodological approach based on the existing approaches analysis. This approach allows to evaluate the influence of the logistic operations implementation reliability on the total logistic costs constituents. At the same time, the supply chains are regarded as recoverable (reserved) systems. In the article you can see calculations examples for the supply chains with the set level of reliable work probability.

Logistics and supply chain management is a comparatively new scientific field which has been rapidly developing .

Apart from the criterion of total logistics costs, that is used to evaluate the efficiency of supply chains, another criterion - total satisfaction of consumer needs - is being increasingly used for the same purpose. It can be explained by the transition to such new logistics concept as the sustainability of supply chains, which is characterized not only by flexibility, rate of response, strength, adaptability, but mostly by the reliability of functioning of the logistics system's elements.

The paper presents critical analysis of the existing approaches to the formation of failure models in supply chains, the methodical approach and classification of failures for the key logistics functions (purchasing, order processing, transportation, storage, warehousing and materials handling) as well as some developed and improved failure models for a number of logistics functions and operations; there have been also given some examples of calculating the reliability indices for the elements of the supply chain.

The article discovers the methodical approaches to the study of logistic activities controlling at the Russian enterprises. There are defined the phases of the controlling research management and described the initial sample of the enterprises surveyed. The methodology of the logistics controlling research is based on the system analysis, the methods of economic cybernetics, operations research, mathematical statistics, the theory of optimal decision-making, and the management theory.

The article presents the main results of the research specifying the state of logistics controlling at the Russian enterprises. The study has conducted a systematic analysis of the status and trends of logistics controlling at the domestic enterprises specialized in the industry, trade and services fields. Top managers of logistics departments in the Russian enterprises were interviewed about the logistics controlling. The survey was undertaken in the form of written and online surveys. The results are documented and processed by a special technique.

The paper considers some issues related to different approaches to estimation of transport and logistic(s) operations in supply networks; analysis is made of the methods and models of analytical description of those operations; it is shown that the works under consideration have no single approach to their accounting, which makes it impossible to form a model of a simple logistic network including such basic operations as transportation and storage; based on the classical model of Harris-Wilson, six versions have been obtained for a simple supply network showing, in particular, value added to the product price stemming from the previously performed logistic operations as well as restrictions associated with the load capacity (cargo capacity) of the vehicle. The choice of an optimum version of the supply network is made based on the criterion of minimum total costs; there are supplied the examples of calculations for different versions of the developed models enabling estimation of the influence of transport and logistic operations on the efficiency of the supply network.

The carried out analysis have shown that, despite some progress, a number of questions remain open, in particular, the termonology, the selection of key indicators and methods of their calculation as well as their is no economic evaluation od redundant and restorable supply chains.

The Russian market of logistics services suffered substantial losses during recent economic recession. Decrease in import from the EU and the USA, reduction of consumer spending within the country, increased borrowing costs led to sharp reduction in the growth rate of the investigated market value. Shortage of the modern infrastructure, fragmentation and imbalance of the Russian logistics market have contributed badly.

This article focuses on identification of the promising strategic development directions for logistics service providers operating on the Russian market. On the basis of literature survey, the authors derive attractive client groups for 3PL operators, priority regions for geographical expansion as well as high-demand logistics and related services. The results of this survey could help logistics agents to define or clarify their market positioning and serve as a basis for further study of specific features in logistics outsourcing development in Russia.

Trends in the digitalization of business open up opportunities for the use of fundamental approaches to the development of enterprise architecture in the creation of appropriate methodologies. The article discusses the approach to the use of adapted Zachman framework for enterprise architecture as a basis for the systematization and structuring of the industry methodology of integrated supply chain planning based on SCOR model. A practical example of using the proposed approach for description of one of the target processes - tactical supply chain planning is considered.

It is concluded that taking into account the ongoing trend in the digitalization of business, including in the field of integrated supply chain planning, the use of an adapted Zachman framework for enterprise architecture allows solving an important scientific and economic problem of systematization and structuring of industry methodologies.
