Преступность в Москве как столичная преступность
the article analyzes the state of crime in the city of Moscow over the past thirty years. Taking the time period of 1993–2023, the author attempts to show which crimes have become the most "demanded" by the criminal world of the capital, and which ones are gradually fading away. At the same time, the article is not limited to the crime trends of modern times, but refers to two studies that have become reference ones - to the studies of crime in Moscow by the group of M. N. Gernet (1923) and the group of N. F. Kuznetsova (1968–1969). Paying tribute to his great predecessors, the author at the same time comes to the conclusion that crime in Moscow has undergone very radical changes over the past thirty years. The article demonstrates the emerging trends, in particular, the decline in violent crime, the increase in mercenary crime, the emergence of new types of crime, primarily cybercrime and extremist crimes. Based on the ratings of international organizations, the author comes to an optimistic conclusion that in comparison with the main world megacities, Moscow remains one of the safest capitals.
