The grain market has historically become the base for both the Russian and the world agro-food market. The condition of the grain market is a kind of indicator of the quality of economic reforms carried out in the country and the implementation of programs aimed at developing the country's agro-industrial complex. The development of the grain market covers quite a wide range of issues related to the functioning of not only the grain economy, but the entire agro-food complex of the country. The economic position of the country on the world market, the effectiveness of interaction with other countries largely depends on the level of development of the agricultural sector, the key element of which is the production and processing of grain.

The main problems of the grain industry are: land production, production and quality problems, export problems. These problems force the problems associated with the sale of grain and limited opportunities for insurance risks due to the lack of a really working in Russia grain market.

The article defines the mechanisms for the development of financial instruments on the Russian grain market and suggests recommendations for optimizing and regulating trade processes.
