The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Studies on competitiveness of space and terrestrial solar power plants using global energy model

International Journal of Global Energy Issues. 2006. Vol. 25. No. 1-2. P. 94–108.
Belyaev L. S., Marchenko O. V., Filippov S., Solomin S. V.

Global energy model GEM-10R has been used to analyse the possible conditions and scale of using space and terrestrial solar power plants in the long-term perspective (up to the end of the 21st century). Different external conditions, when these alternative energy technologies may be feasible, have been revealed and discussed.

Das A., Paul R., Sharma N. et al., Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects 2026 Vol. 728 P. 138830
Niobium-doped TiO2 (Nb-TiO2), demonstrates dual functionality as an efficient photocatalyst for dye degradation and a promising photoelectrocatalyst for water oxidation. Nb incorporation via a facile hydrothermal method was confirmed by XRD (Rietveld refinement), XPS, TEM, FT-IR, Raman, and BET analyses, indicating successful lattice doping and structural modification. Photocatalytic dye degradation experiments were conducted using a model ...

H2O Deprotonation Promotes Hole Transfer at the Anatase TiO2(001)/Water Interface: First-Principles Molecular Dynamics
Han F., Chen X., Chen K. et al., The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters 2025 Vol. 16 No. 44 P. 11428–11433
Photocatalytic water splitting represents a promising approach for solar energy utilization, but its performance is primarily constrained by the sluggish water oxidation reaction, where the hole transfer at the solid/liquid interface plays a significant role. Despite extensive experimental and theoretical efforts, the hole trapping mechanism of TiO2, a widely used photocatalyst, in the aqueous environment ...

Renewable energy sources and storage batteries for electrification of Russian decentralized power supply systems
Karamov D., Volkova I., Suslov K. et al., Journal of Physics: Conference Series 2021 Vol. 2061 Article 012016
The use of renewable energy sources (RES) and storage batteries (SB) in decentralized power systems is a cost-effective way to supply power to consumers. In this case, storage batteries are one of the most important system components. The significance of storage batteries is conditioned by a stabilizing effect obtained at generation from RES that are ...
