Development of a KPI subsystem for a Russian confectionery company: a case study
The article presents a case study of KPI subsystem development based on the application of methods and tools of lean production in a Russian confectionery factory. We report on an analysis of production problems at the enterprise, as well as proposed solutions and results of their implementation. The lean KPI subsystem resulted in significant improvements in the company. The results of this case study are relevant for business practices in general, as the proposed measures can be used to improve a company’s investment attractiveness. Additionally, the findings are useful for lean managers working in the confectionery industry, as our study illustrates key success factors, as well as the impact and role of lean manufacturing in this industry.
The monograph deals with the adaptation of lean manufacturing in conditions of economic instability based on the proposed conceptual model of the current state of lean production, the systematization of business conditions, the construction of an organizational and structural scheme for the continuous development of lean manufacturing and a methodological device for its phased application in enterprises. Theoretical and practical significance consists in deepening the methodological foundations for the introduction of lean production and the development of theoretical knowledge in the field of lean production and the development of Russian experience in its application. The practical significance of the results of the work is determined by the ability to use methodological recommendations for the phased introduction and development of lean manufacturing in the enterprise, as well as for developing methods and approaches to operating system management. The monograph is intended for managers of medium and large businesses, managers to improve business processes and conduct organizational changes responsible for operational (production) activities in an industrial production plant and in service companies. In this article the possibility for improving the dynamic capabilities of the domestic enterprises by tools of Lean management system is considered. The impact of the mentioned system in the big Russian enterprise ‘KAMAZ’ is evaluated. Lean management is a world-spread way of solving the problems, aimed at making the company competitive. It is the organized activity of staff of the company focused on reduction of expenses, maximizing value of production for the consumer and the added value for business.
Nowadays, the formation and development of an asset management system of "Russian Grids" is one of the key processes and priorities of the company, covering all levels of strategy. On the one hand, the relevance of finding an optimal asset management strategy is caused by a necessity to synchronize the strategies of different business levels with the company’s strategy and to transmit the relationships between the strategies into the key performance indicators of business processes. On the other hand, all the subsidiaries of "Russian Grids" are at different levels of development, and the same goals could not be achieved by all companies at the same time. This article considers one of the possible approaches to searching an optimal asset management strategy for subsidiaries under the general direction of unified asset management strategy development and the corporate strategy. The asset management strategy choice depends on the level of its maturity and efficiency of the company with condition of necessity to synchronize the strategies of different business levels and to decompose relationships between these strategies through corresponding key performance indicators.
Key performance indicators (KPI) present an effective, high-precision framework for continuous monitoring of target achievements. The KPI framework has proved itself to be a functional tool within different economic sectors in series of large and mid-size companies. Notwithstanding all ad- vantages and effects of the implementation of KPI framework, it cannot be used for assessment and monitoring of operational risk level that was accepted for achievement of defined targets. Switching towards a risk-balanced approach in process management requires the definition and implementation of framework for monitoring the compliance of company risk-profile with its risk-tolerance. This requirement results in a key risk indicators KRI framework. The article provides an example of deve- loping a set of KRI for internal information system.
In real situations, the work of project-oriented businesses takes place in conditions of high uncertainty. In particular, the moments of the receipt of project execution time, as well as costs and other factors are yutsya-random numbers with given or unknown to the laws of the distributions. Smoking is a problem, bringing signifi cant social and economic costs to Russiansociety. However, ratifi cation of the World health organization Framework conventionon tobacco control makes it possible to improve Russian legislation accordingto the international standards. So, I describe some measures that should be taken bythe Russian authorities in the nearest future, and I examine their effi ciency. By studyingthe international evidence I analyze the impact of the smoke-free areas, advertisementand sponsorship bans, tax increases, etc. on the prevalence of smoking, cigaretteconsumption and some other indicators. I also investigate the obstacles confrontingthe Russian authorities when they introduce new policy measures and the public attitudetowards these measures. I conclude that there is a number of easy-to-implementanti-smoking activities that need no fi nancial resources but only a political will.
One of the most important indicators of company's success is the increase of its value. The article investigates traditional methods of company's value assessment and the evidence that the application of these methods is incorrect in the new stage of economy. So it is necessary to create a new method of valuation based on the new main sources of company's success that is its intellectual capital.

At present many industries reveal tendency for setting up of vertically integrated companies (VIC) the structure of which unites all technological processes. This tendency proved its efficiency in oil industry where coordination of all successive stages of technological process, namely, oil prospecting and production -oil transportation - oil processing - oil chemistry - oil products and oil chemicals marketing, is necessary. The article considers specific features of introduction of "personnel management" module at enterprises of oil and gas industry.
