Conquérir la négritude: considérations inessentielles sur le genre noir

Nouvelles Etudes Francophones. 2015. Vol. 29. No. 2. P. 60-77.
Schang F., Alekseeva A.

Which message is sent by the literary movement of négritude, and how does it proceed to convey it? The black diaspora acquired dignity through and overcome victimhood stance through an introspective writing, beyond the realm of French-speaking community.
Throughout the history of slave and colonization, our reading will consist in three main steps: a locutionary step, devoted to the black consciousness; an illocutionary step, where the various reactions of black intelligentsia towards segregation and colonial liabilities will be displayed; a perlocutionary step, which will conclude the study by observing the impact of négritude upon the social reality of black gender.
Beyond the historical French-speaking movement, négritude embeds the issue of identity construction and clearly exemplifies the difficulty of human condition, namely: to be what one wants of what the others want us to do.
