Церемониймейстер, счетовод или тайный агент? Институт мушрифа и его эволюция в странах Ближнего и Среднего Востока
The article is devoted to the analysis of the office of mushrif in the states of traditional Orient. The sources and researches characterize this institution in different ways. One authors consider mushrif as a representative of a treasure office, others states that he was a kind of ‘undercover agent” who fulfilled ruler’s secret orders in regions, while there is also an opinion that he was a master of ceremonies. The analysis of the wide scope of historical sources and studies made before authors find that in fact mushrif was a financial officer of high rank, but later this office lost its importance. The article includes the first Russian-language publication of a legal monument — yarlik on the appointment of mushrif from the treatise “Dastur al-katib” written in the second half of the 14th c. by Muhammad b. Hindushah Nahchivani, who himself was a financial officer at the court of Hulaguids and their successors Jalairs.
