International N5 Symposium ‘Neural Networks and Nonlinearity in Nizhny Novgorod Brings Together Scientists from Russia and Serbia
The International N5 Symposium ‘Neural Networks and Nonlinearity in Nizhny Novgorod’ was held at the Nizhny Novgorod House of Scientists from September 23 to 26. The event was organised by HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod House of Scientists, with the participation of Sberbank and the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The symposium was held for the second time: the first conference took place in 2025 and attracted considerable interest from the academic community.

‘The Climate Transition Is Not Necessarily a Limitation for Business
Linara Khadimullina works in the field of low-carbon development. In an interview with the Young Scientists of HSE project, she spoke about why nature is not just a beautiful backdrop, her research on the role of sustainable corporate governance in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and growing plants as a source of inspiration.

Africa, Youth, and Civic Dialogue: Public Diplomacy Discussed at HSE University
In late September, HSE University hosted a roundtable discussion titled Civil Society in African Countries and Youth Participation in Public Diplomacy. Representatives of non-governmental organisations from Ghana, Ethiopia, and Russia, along with students from HSE University’s Bachelor’s Programme in Public Administration, discussed how young people without official diplomatic status can influence relations between countries and how the nonprofit sector can remain sustainable amid declining grant funding.

Chernoff approximation for semigroups generated by killed Feller processes and Feynman formulae for time-fractional Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov equations

Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis. 2018. Vol. 21. No. 5.
Butko Ya. A.

We consider operator semigroups generated by Feller processes killed upon leaving a given domain. These semigroups correspond to Cauchy–Dirichlet type initial-exterior value problems in this domain for a class
of evolution equations with (possibly non-local) operators. The considered semigroups are approximated by means of the Chernoff theorem. For a class of killed Feller processes, the constructed Chernoff approximation
leads to a representation of the solution of the corresponding Cauchy–Dirichlet type problem by a Feynman formula, i.e. by a limit of n-fold iterated integrals of certain functions as n → ∞. Feynman formulae can be used
for direct calculations, modelling of underlying dynamics, simulation of underlying stochasstic processes. Further, a method to approximate solutions of time-fractional evolution equations is suggested. The method is based
on connections between time-fractional and time-non-fractional evolution equations as well as on Chernoff approximations for the latter ones. This method leads to Feynman formulae for solutions of time-fractional evolution
equations. A class of distributed order time-fractional equations is considered; Feynman formulae for solutions of the corresponding Cauchy and Cauchy–Dirichlet type problems are obtained.

Chernoff approximation of subordinate semigroups
Butko Ya. A., Stochastics and Dynamics 2018 Vol. 18 No. 3
This note is devoted to the approximation of evolution semigroups generated by some Markov processes and hence to the approximation of transition probabilities of these processes. The considered semigroups correspond to processes obtained by subordination (i.e. by a time-change) of some original (parent) Markov processes with respect to some subordinators, i.e. L´evy processes with a.s. increasing paths (they play ...

Semigroups of Operators: Theory and Applications, SOTA, Kazimierz Dolny, Poland, September/October 2018
Springer Publishing Company, 2020.
This survey describes the method of approximation of operator semigroups, based on the Chernoff theorem. We outline recent results in this domain as well as clarify relations between constructed approximations, stochastic processes, numerical schemes for PDEs and SDEs, path integrals. We discuss Chernoff approximations for operator semigroups and Schrödinger groups. In particular, we consider Feller semigroups in R^d , (semi)groups obtained ...

Solution-giving formula to Cauchy problem for multidimensional parabolic equation with variable coefficients
Remizov I., Journal of Mathematical Physics 2019 Vol. 60 No. 7 P. 1–8
We present a general method of solving the Cauchy problem for multidimensional parabolic (diffusion type) equation with variable coefficients which depend on spatial variable but do not change over time. We assume the existence of the C0-semigroup (this is a standard assumption in the evolution equations theory, which guarantees the existence of the solution) and ...

Solution to a Parabolic Differential Equation in Hilbert Space Via Feynman Formula - I
Remizov I., Modeling and Analysis of Information Systems 2015 Vol. 22 No. 3 P. 337–355
A parabolic partial differential equation 𝑢′𝑡(𝑡, 𝑥) = 𝐿𝑢(𝑡, 𝑥) is considered, where 𝐿 is a linear second-order differential operator with time-independent coefficients, which may depend on 𝑥. We assume that the spatial coordinate 𝑥 belongs to a finite- or infinite-dimensional real separable Hilbert space 𝐻. Assuming the existence of a strongly continuous resolving semigroup ...

A parabolic partial differential equation u 0 t (t, x) = Lu(t, x) is considered, where L is a linear second-order differential operator with time-independent (but dependent on x) coefficients. We assume that the spatial coordinate x belongs to a finite- or infinitedimensional real separable Hilbert space H. The aim of the paper is to ...
