Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Hypergraphs from multivariate connectivity: caCOH-based EEG/MEG representation

European Physical Journal: Special Topics. 2026. P. 1–16.
Vlasenko D., Saranskaia I., Zakharov D.

Hypergraphs provide a natural framework for representing neurophysiological interactions distributed across sets of sensors. A key methodological question is how hyperedges should be defined from frequency-resolved electroencephalography/magnetoencephalography (EEG/MEG) data. We demonstrate a construction strategy in which hyperedges are obtained from canonical coherence (caCOH), an extension of coherence that estimates coupling between multidimensional signal spaces. To our knowledge, this is the first work to construct hypergraphs directly from a multivariate connectivity measure specifically designed for frequency-resolved neurophysiological analysis. We propose two caCOH-based representations: a one-to-space hypergraph, where each external signal defines a hyperedge over the EEG/MEG sensor space, and a space-to-space hypergraph, where two multidimensional signal spaces are represented by a single hyperedge. We evaluate the approach in controlled simulations with known coupling frequencies and varying signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Compared with graphs based on magnitude-squared coherence (MSC), caCOH-based hypergraphs showed statistically higher target–baseline contrasts at almost all SNR levels, indicating stronger recovery of coupling frequencies. They also recovered sensor-level spatial patterns associated with the simulated sources. In addition, one-to-space and space-to-space representations reduced 610 MSC edges per frequency to ten hyperedges and one hyperedge, respectively. These results establish multivariate spectral connectivity as a natural methodological basis for EEG/MEG hypergraphs.

Discrete Markowitz Portfolio Optimization with Open-Source Classical and Quantum-Inspired Solvers: A Cross-Market Walk-Forward Study
Avdoshin S.M., Patrushev K. A., Proceedings of the Institute for System Programming of the RAS 2026 No. 4 часть 2 P. 245–256
The cardinality-constrained Markowitz problem is NP-hard and traditionally solved with commercial MIQP solvers. Following the 2022 export restrictions that rendered both commercial MIQP software and cloud quantum platforms (IBM Quantum, D-Wave Leap) inaccessible from the Russian Federation, practitioners require open-source alternatives. This paper systematically compares three solver families for the discrete mean-variance problem: two open-source ...

Benchmarking Synolitic Graphs for Autism Classification from Multisite Resting-State fMRI
Zaikin A., Vlasenko D., Zakharov D. et al., Diagnostics 2026 Vol. 16 No. 17 P. 1–15
Background/Objectives: Synolitic graphs (SGs) were developed for task-based fMRI, where edge weights encode the discriminative power of pairwise regional features; whether similar information can be recovered from resting-state data was untested. We benchmarked SGs for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) classification using the multisite ABIDE-I dataset (871 subjects: 403 subjects with ASD, 468 typical controls; 17 sites; CC200 atlas). Methods: Using ...

Pyramidal solitons: existence, instability, and interactions
Melnikov I., Pelinovsky E., Nonlinear Dynamics 2026 No. 114 Article 934
Pyramidal solitons (solitons with more than two inflection points) of the generalized Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) equation are investigated. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such structures are presented. Within the framework of the generalized Gardner equation — the simplest model that admits pyramidal solitons as solutions — it is shown that these solutions ...

Exact solutions for transport of distributed colloids in porous media
L.I. Kuzmina, Osipov , Y. V., Kolokoltseva, T. N., Advances in Water Resources 2026 Vol. 213 Article 105335
We study 1D transport of mobilized particles, detached from the solid matrix, in porous media (so-called fines migration). Three types of colloidal-suspension flow models are considered: (i) averaged model for multicomponent colloids with distributed properties; (ii) flow of binary colloids with interacting particles; (iii) discrete system for multicomponent low-concentration colloid. These models account for distributed ...

Liudmila I. Kuzmina, Osipov, Y. V., International Journal for Computational Civil and Structural Engineering 2026 Vol. 22 No. 2 P. 138–148
Modeling the transport and sedimentation of small particles of suspensions and colloids in porous rocks is an important problem in subsurface hydromechanics. Particles entrained in fluid are transported and retained in the rock pores. The filtration process is determined by the number and size of pores and is characterized by porosity—the ratio of the void ...

Reconstruction of EEG signals using next-generation reservoir computing
Badarin A., Ratnikov F., Andreev A., European Physical Journal: Special Topics 2026 P. 1–10
EEG recordings are often affected by the loss or corruption of individual channels due to electrode detachment, poor scalp contact, or external interference. Such channels must be accurately reconstructed before further analysis. In this study, we investigate Next-Generation Reservoir Computing (NG-RC) as a data-driven approach for reconstructing corrupted EEG channels and compare its performance with ...

Functional Brain Connectivity and Musical Training: Insights from EEG Phase Synchronization during Music Perception
A. Radygina, S. Kulikova, Herald of the Russian Academy of Sciences 2025 Vol. 95 No. 6 P. 963–970
Musical training has a significant impact on brain organization, leading to functional and structural adaptations that enhance auditory, visual, motor, and cognitive processes. This study investigates how extensive musical training shapes functional brain connectivity by comparing professional musicians and non-musicians. Using EEG phase-locking value (PLV) analysis, we examined neural synchronization across alpha, beta, and gamma frequency ranges during music ...

Growing evidence suggests the specific systems for emotional information maintenance and processing in working memory, highlighting the role of cognitive domains in emotional awareness. The question of neural basis of social-emotional processing in working memory remains open.
